Ayo, I need to reformat my computer cuz its been screwing up pretty bad... I was wondering if you guys could help me by telling me what to do after I reformat... Like what programs to get, what stuff I have to download, etc.

Please don't post any jokes or whatever cuz they're not funny. I'm just asking for some quick help so I can get started on my reformatting.

Thanks.

Firstly, make sure you've backed up everything you need.. I know it sounds obvious but I *always* miss something. Remember to save your favourites, save games of any games you're currently playing etc..

Once you've formatted and got everything installed. The first thing you should do is install a firewall (If you have one on a CD) if not, go straight to the windows update site and get all the critical updates. Then you need to get drivers for your hardware. If you don't know the makes/models of your hardware it's worth looking in the device manager now and noting down what you have. Windows should pick up most stuff but you'll need to get drivers for:-

Graphics Card
Sound card
Motherboard(Chipset drivers).

Once you have the windows update, before you start downloading any drivers or any programs make sure you install your antivirus program and update it. Then install the drivers.

After that, you can just install things as you need them.

I think that's about everything you need to remember.

Hope that helps and good luck with it [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

A program probably came with your DVD burner, but Nero is good. I think you can download a demo version from www.nero.com

Get your stuff backed up, format to, if you're using Windows XP, NTFS by using either your windows disc or fdisk with a bootdisk for your specific operating system, install ALL windows updates ASAP, get a firewall if at all possible, and once everything's done, get a sense of humor. The jokes come with the help--it's our right [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

I like CDBurnerXP Pro. It writes both CDs and DVDs. Although it's designed for Windows XP, it will work with Win98. The only problem is that the color gets all screwed up, so it looks crappy. Works fine, though.

You need a Windows CD.

I sure hope you figured that out by yourself, but no one has said it yet [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]
