Just curious. This applies to anything with a story such as games, books, movies, etc. so keep that in mind when voting.

That's a tough one. I can enjoy anything if it's written/designed well.

What he said, but I don't really like Sci-Fi. I would prefer any of the other ones.

i tend to like sci-fi mostly... because you can do alot with it that you can't really do with modern or historic...

Fantasy. That's what I'm personally mostly interested in. Even though I'm here mapping for a scifi game... Well, SW does have some fantasy aspects, which is a good thing.

I voted Fantasy, because it's my utmost favourite out of the choices, but I do enjoy the others as well.

it all depends on the story.

voted modern though, purely on the basis of my video collection.

Fantasy, definitely.

Cyberpunk, Steampunk, 1400-1900 historical (nautical in particular), prohibition-era/inter-war America + Europe.

Which one am I supposed to vote for?
If it breaks, you get to keep both pieces.

/me gives the CoolMatty a cookie

I voted for modern because, on principle, a "modern" setting applies to stuff we can relate to. I'd say fantasy, but I actually really dislike some of the convensions of fantasy... so I'd actually vote for some elemental modern-fantasy if I could.

I like sci-fi that tries to present futures that could actually happen.

Fantasy, mostly. I always end up poking holes in the bad science of SciFi stories... :\

Modern or Cyberpunk. Any fantasy I read ends up seeming really cookie-cutter-ish. Maybe I'm reading the wrong stuff, but it shouldn't be THAT hard to find something good, right?

What exactly would classify as a "modern" setting for a game? Would it exactly necessitate going out of its way to not have any elements that are the hallmark of the other three? I don't particularly care for that type of setting, because the result is a highly limited plot. I more prefer ones that might be based on a modern theme, but then twisted a little to add another element. A good example of this would be Perfect Dark, which seems to be partially sci-fi, (set in the year 2038, and includes some futuristic technologies) but also very reminiscient of modern-day settings. (I.E, 90% of the weapons are altered versions of real weapons, such as the CMP-150 being a cross between an MP-5 and an Uzi)
