This thread was inspired by a comment on the View on Life thread. (you should wathc your mouth next time!)

Anyway... When do you think sleep begins? When does it end? Why do you think your dreams have very little in common with your real life? What is the meaning of life? What is the ground velocity of an unladen swallow?

Sleep begins when I lose consciousness, and ends when I wake up... to the point when I can move. Sometimes, I wake up halfway - literally. I can feel my body trying to awaken, and I think I can manage to groan, trying to get someone's attention (which never works), but I'm completely paralyzed.
It's not cool.

You're right. I've had that happen a couple times before. It only lasts a couple of seconds, but it's a terrifying feeling.

I hate sleep (until I actually start snoozing that is). I'm tired when I'm NOT in bed and then my brain WAKES UP when I GET IN bed!
Talk about screwy!

I love sleep, but don't you hate when you're staying up to watch something and fall asleep at some point along the way, only to be awoken at 4 am by the TV, pissed that you missed the show?

I find sleep a waste of my time, think about it, almost 7-9 hours (depending on when you go to sleep) lost to sleeping, but it has to be done so, whatever.

I am also a "picky sleeper". Everything has to be perfect, its werid.

It happens b/c your reticular activation system (this little thing somewhere within the gooey folds of your brain) switches off when you sleep so you can't move when you dream.

Sometimes, your RAS switches on after you wake up, so until that happens, you're still paralyzed.

Never happened to me personally.

I like sleep, but I don't like how I have to sleep some exact abitrary length that's about 9 hours in order to not feel crappy. If I sleep longer I just don't have any energy, if I sleep less I just feel tired all day.

I hate naps because whenever I fall alseep I wake up with a bad hair day, having a bad hair day after having already been awake for several hours isn't a good thing. Naps don't make me refreshed [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]

I don't like sleep. If I oversleep it feels like I've wasted a couple of hours I could have otherwise used, even if I do go to sleep at 4 AM.

For some reason whenever I'm slightly tired, but have homework to do, if I just rest my head on my bed I can fall asleep almost instantly. If I'm in my bed TRYING to go to sleep my mind wakes up completely and I lay there for like an hour.

yup same here.. sometimes I'll wake up from a nap and I'll be sore or have a head ache, not feeling any better at all! and it's not because of sleeping in a wierd position, it just hurts to wake up [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]

Harharhar go me [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

Anyways. Sleep sleep.. Well, sleep is refreshing, but sometimes I have horrid dreams, and I do move when I dream sometimes. I've found myself in the weirdest places. In the kitchen with my hand in the peanut butter, sprawled on the stairs, outside etc.

Sleep starts for me when I don't hear anything in the outside world, but still hear blood rushing in my ears and my breathing. I dunno why, but I never move when I'm like that, unless I REALLY tried to.
