Well we all know physics online can work now, and I personally love it. The only thing it is missing is a few more maps and maybe game types. That's not what I wanted to get at though.

What do you think will crop up in the way of maps and online mods now that it's shown how very possible physics online are? What about catapults or any other large ranged weapon showing up in mods etc? What would you like to see/think you will see?

I'd love to see pretty much what you mentioned. A medieval warfare mod that lets you play as a soldier either beseiging or defending a castle. It would be great.

A revolutionary war mod (which there is one coming out for HL2) where they use the physics with the muskets (random inacurate musket balls)..... don't get me started on Cannon Balls.

Speaking of which it would go well with a Civil War mod or a Pirates like Mod where we can board and fight while cannon balls fly by crushing the sails, you know what? We can have physics attached to ships and sails as well, so instead of a life bar for the ship, it would simply get too many holes in it and sink before the carpenters can repair them.

I would definatly like a WWII mod similar to Forgotten Hope for BF1942 with a keen eye for Amor penetration values. Imagine seeing a German Tiger tank and you shoot at it from 200m away and you watch you're shell richochet right off its armor and it shoots it cannon blowing your turret with pillar of smoke right into the air and it landing on some nearby soldiers as you bail out. Now that would be a great use of physics.

Another great thing they can finally do right is Grenade shrapnel or any explosion shrapnel instead of just using splash damage.

The possibilities of mods (we havent even gotten to space mods yet) are looking very good here.

Thats why you would have carpenters sillly... and as long as the ship is big, it'll take more then 2 holes to sink her fast enough. The only thing I don't see happening is anyone playing as the carpenters pumping out the water and patching up the whole (especially when theres a huge battle going and your stuck below inside a leaky ship). Would be a cool moment to be fixing a ship with a buddy and then he leaves for health or something and a cannon ball rips right through the hull and kills him.

I don't know too much about DOD:Source right now. The DOD forums are full twits that want to keep DOD exactly the same over source. DOD had good beginings but now instead of historical accuracy its gone the way side of stat balance (for instance all the smgs do the same amount of damage and have the same recoil... except the greasegun). Notice i said Stat balance where both sides have the exact same stats on their equipment. To me thats just lazy when balance could be done and maintain a good historical feel. Also theres talk of no vehicles and the same tight maps. I'm sorry but with games like BF:1942:Forgotten Hope, COD:UO or even UT:2004 Red Orchestra, DOD has to start addapting and giving people that usually play WWII games, what they want and thats to experience WWII virtually. DOD started it all and now its getting to mainstream and commercial and that usually means less inovation (has CS evolved much? no same weapons and basically the same gameplay... even in source not much new is added). I guess this is ok with DOD being fun for non-WWII freaks like me but it's just sad considering what the source engine can pull off.

Don't mind me, as a history major i get all pissy about mods and such that cop out and give both sides the same advatages and disadvantages instead of having the player or his team take advantage of certain strengths. Now Im all for fun gameplay but I don't want to play a WWII game where both sides are the same... i might as well play a futuristic game or fantasy game... i play a WWII game cause i expect it to portray the feel of WWII.

I would love to see some kind of engineer mod, where they give you a ton of crap to use, and you have to build your way from point A to point B over something hazardous like a pool of radiation. That would be awesome!

It's probably so laggy for you because of the lack of good dedicated servers since it's brand new.

Bowling, ala Rats. The other team gets spawned in fix positions at the end of an bowling lane, and you have to pick up a huge bowling ball (large enough that it blocks your view) and use the Gravity Gun to knock down as many of the other team, using your team to coordinate your aiming.

HL2 DM is annoying though, that's for sure. stuff flying around is not nearly as fun as I thought it might be, it's just really annoying and chaotic.

Multiplayer already has AI and a cvar named "coop". It's either basecode for co-op mods or for a future release from Valve.
