Basically, it waste spam servers' bandwidth constantly while you are idle. Pretty nifty, pretty good idea. No it's not fake, article for verification.

Considering that spam is the bulk of all internet traffic, yeah, I want all of them to die in a painful and humiliating manner. If I ruled the world I'd make it so murder cases would be dismissed immediately in the event that the victim is a spammer.

Technically, spammers are already committing a crime, so they can't sue or even prosecute you for DDOS'ing them seeing as how they would have to admit to spamming...which is now punishable by fine and prison time.

Sorry, but this really doesnt sound very legal. Even if they leave 5% of the bandwidth... you're still denying 95% of their service.

And even if it is legal, people who participate are still going to run the risk of having their accounts terminated by their ISP- several ISPs have already warned their members not to participate.
