Ugh, my legs hurt...

I work in retail, selling pc components all day. So, for about 99% of the time that I am clocked in, I am on my feet. Lately, and every now and then, my legs have started aching even before my lunch hour, and I don't know exactly why.

They're really bad right now, as I just got off about 40 minutes ago(1:30 AM). Granted, it was a long shift (2PM-1:30AM), but it's nothing really new. Sometimes they ache, sometimes they don't, and I can't find a correlation. I ate breakfast this morning as well as lunch before going in at 2:00. I get, on average, 7 to 7 1/2 hours of sleep each night, sometimes more. It also might be possible that even though I walk and stand around all day, that I might need to do some running exercise?

I also need to do something about my attitude towards work, moreso in the category of selling. Lately I've just been burnt out on customers. Every customer is an annoyance, and just like the mail, they keep coming, and never stop. They should make up a term similar to "going postal", but for retail.

I don't know, maybe I just need to get more sleep. Hard to do so though with the piss-poor scheduling my manager does. I've been offered a Manager-Trainee position in another department, that I will post about tomorrow. Sure is looking tempting.

I had the same problem when I worked in a factory last summer. Just wait it out; eventually your feet will get used to it.

As for your customer attitude, well, I also had a part-time job for a couple of years in a public library, and I was the one who had to deal with anyone having computer problems... so I know exactly how you feel.

Yeah that's probably it. My knee would keep giving out for no reason, and it turns out I needed orthodics (sp?)

it is definetely your shoes. i stand on my feet for long periods w/o rest, and the other day i went in to work w/a different pair of shoes, my legs got sore rather quickly. the first day was the worst though, cause i was dumb and decided to wear my combat boots...

I worked retail for two years and wound up walking crooked from the pain in my knees for a while until I got corrective insoles for my shoes. Get to a specialist and have some made, it'll make quite a difference.

Same deal for me, but it was my back. Got those inserts and it hasn't happened since.

Customers suck. 'tis the reason why I will never hold a retail or customer service position ever again.
