If they re-released the NES...
2004-12-05, 12:16 AM #1
Who would buy it? I know I would! I was just trying to beat the high score on my friend's Duck Hunt, but the game kept failing on me. The system's getting old, but I still love it. It's a nice, simple thing to do on a weekend at university, and competitive as hell. Answer my question, and post your moments of NES nostalgia...

You know if you really want one they're all over eBay for not much.

If they re-released the NES it would be the size of a grain of sand.

I'd totally buy one just for Duck Hunt, I hate that dog so much, I'll teach him to laugh at me.

I loved megaman, particularly the second one. Also Mario 3 had its moments... Also have fond memories of Ducktales.

My NES is at home - it may still work, but I've not plugged it in in years. My Megadrive is still seeing student action today - in fact it's a little more popular than the PS2 at the moment!

nope.

I'd buy it, gut it, and make an NES-PC, and then run a NES emulator on it. :p

If they re-released it, they may as well make it the same size, put a piece of flash memory in it, put EVERY NES game on it, and sell it for like $150.

(around 400 nes games are only about 150mb..)

If they were going to re-release anything, they should release the SNES. The NES was s***, IMO.

I'd probably buy one if I used to own one, just for nostalgia. I would buy a Mega Drive (Genesis) and a Master System, but only because I had both as a kid.

One thing they did for the Gamecube was release all the old Sonic games on a single disc, which was cool. They're doing the same thing on Xbox, and I'll definately pick it up as I loved those games when I was a kid (the new 3D Sonic games are an abomination, in my opinion). I do have them all emulated on the PC, but it's not quite the same.

It's odd that I just came across this topic, I've just played Streets of Rage with one of my mates over the internet, we used to play it (and many other Mega Drive games) all the time when we were in primary school.

I would. For some reason I sold it and all my games (well, I only had about six...) for a SOUND CARD! Arrgh! I lost all my cool magazines and guides, too; I figure my parents gave it to the people who bought the NES from us.

Man, that was a dumb decision, but I was probably like eight at the time, I think... I'm not even sure what games I'd have been playing on the computer with sound at that point...

Didn't they already rebuild one back in the days of SNES? The cartridges loaded like the SNES, but worked with the same peripherals as the original NES.

This, for some reason, reminds me of the other day when I went to the video store for the first time in quite a few years and discovered I had unpaid late charges one of the first 2 MegaMan X games. :o

That'd be freaking amazing, except then you wouldn't have the feel of yanking out cartridges and sticking another one in after looking through your stash :(

I don't have the link, but some dude did mod his old NES to do something like that. He had also modded an old cartridge so that he could flash his homebrews on it to play them.
2004-12-05, 9:41 PM #25
They have a kiosk at my local mall that sells a system that has like all the old NES games on it and stuff. It's really cool.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

And the blowing in the cartridge and the machine to make it work... *sniff* good times.

I still have mine. I love it. Has anyone ever beaten the Empire Strikes Back game? I can get to Boba Fett in Cloud City but always die after that. I beat the Star Wars game once or twice...

Favorite games would be Ninja Gaiden 2, TMNT, Codename: Viper, and Double Dragon.

So many excelent games...
  • Ninja Gaiden
(III was the most fun to me, and had the best music)
  • Mega Man (can't really label a favorite)
  • Final Fantasy(well, II and III aren't availible on the US NES)
  • Legend of Zelda I/II
  • Castlevania (they just kept getting better as they went along here)
  • Star Wars (for some reason, the Death Star music refuses to leave my head)
  • Metroid (my favorite of the series is still M3 for the SNES, though)
Heck, I think that Nintendo should produce a re-make of their first three home consoles put into one machine, and re-release entire super-collections of their games, convincing their current/former developers to do the same. I know I'd pay a nice ammount of money to have all of the Castlevania games on a single disc/cartridge, as with all of the other great series.
