Our friends over at IESB.net have given us an amazing Indiana Jones 4 scoop! IESB.net was in attendance for a special event for Hotel Rwanda to benefit Amnesty International which was hosted by Harrison Ford and Angelina Jolie. The many stars in attendance for the event included Matt Damon, Samuel L. Jackson, Eric Idle, Halley Berry and Wyclef Jean.

While Harrison Ford was not on the red carpet as expected, IESB.net was able to get an exclusive interview with Mr. Ford after the event. I was also fortunate enough to send in some questions about Indiana Jones 4 to be included with IESB.net's interview and here is what Harrison Ford had to say:

IESB.net: Is Indy 4 still going to be made?
Ford: "No doubt about it."

IESB.net: Could a younger actor play Indiana Jones in Indy 4?
Ford: "No problem, but Indy IV is mine." Ford also added that he wouldn't mind having a younger actor play Indy in future films, which is similar to what was done with the James Bond films after Sean Connery left.

IESB.net: Will you be doing your own stunts for Indiana Jones 4?
Ford: "At least some of them."

IESB.net also asked what was going on with the Indy 4 script and Ford said that George Lucas was happy with the new draft.

Harrison Ford is optimistic about Indiana Jones 4 and the new script which is always a good sign. Ford seemed very sure about the film and we now know that Lucas is happy with the script so things are looking a lot better than last time! Ford's reference to a younger actor to play Indy in future films was also very interesting, does this mean there are more sequels in the works? Only time will tell. In the mean time, stay tuned to The Indy Experience.com for the latest on Indiana Jones IV!

I feel that they should just have left it as a trilogy.

True, but also take into account that

Indiana Jones = Strong, charming, handsome archaeologist in his 30's/40's

Harrison Ford (currently) = some of those attributes, but happens to be 62 (courtesy of IMDB.com)

Now I'm not saying that older actors can't be in movies, and can't have lead roles, but there is such a thing as aging gracefully. I don't think it's appropriate for some guy in his 60's to be flaunting around with women in their 20's or 30's. Sean Connery understands this (for the most part), Roger Moore caught on (although he was in his late 50's I believe when he stopped Bond), and a number of other actors also realize this.

I'm also not sure if Harrison's up to it. A fourth Appearance as Indy might leave the fans rather disappointed. Have you seen him in the interviews on the new Indiana Jones DVDs? His face looked awful, he had no charisma or charm whatsoever, and he spoke in a drolling monologue with a very raspy and rather unhealthy sounding voice. I think he's had one too many drinks and been in and out of bed with a few too many women. The guy left his wife (and got his ear pierced at 60 something). I like Harrison Ford (or at least I did as Indy in the originals), but I'm worried this is just going to turn into another one of George Lucas' money schemes, milking all of these classic films for all they're worth.

I agree with Pagewizard. As much as I'd like to see Indy return to the screen, I think they should leave it at three. :/

So, I don't think Harrison is appropriate for the role any more due to the reasons listed above, and hence I don't think a 4th Indy should be made (plus George Lucas is writing the script, need I say more).

Sean Connery has managed to still make action movies until recently. I hope Ford is the same.

But.. Sean Connery has aged better than Ford... maybe Sean should play Indy in the next one, and Harrison can play his dad.

Yeah, this one's bound to suck cause George Lucas is doing it, and he didn't do anything with the first three...

Some people abuse "lol" all the time. They aren't actually laughing, they just say it at anything funny. Anything at all, even if they didn't really even smile at the joke. I however, never abuse "lol."

I actually quite liked the Special Edition. But seeing as I never saw the originals in theatres, goodness knows what George edited out (and edited in). :o

....I think Sean Patrick Flannery should assume the role of Indy. He was a killer Young Indy in my opinion and I really do think Ford wasnt really trying much in the DVD versions mainly because he was probably because he's like that. I'm quite surprised he actually gave that interview.
