Well, Nintendo lost Silicon Knight's exclusivity Tuesday...

Here is the next one to go.

http://cube.ign.com/articles/506/506508p1.html

I started new thread, just because it is FACTOR 5. *cries* Now the key word is they say they are not making any more games for Gamecube, not necessarily meaning they won't make another game for a Nintendo system.

But they are now going multiplatform too...

This means that Nintendo has lost now 2 of it's major players in reasons to specifically buy a Nintendo system...

If you check the boards, Nintendo community is in state of shock, and right now I think they are treading on a thin line (Nintendo).

Once SegaSports dropped the GC last year my interest in it dropped roughly 200%

FACTOR 5?!

*sigh* This won't really affect me that much, although it is disappointing and just a bit stupid. There's a PS2 and a GCN in my house, so I guess if I want to play any new Rogue Squadron game it'll be on the PS2. Nintendo though...they're not making very smart decisions as of late. But since I already own a GCN I'll continue to buy games for it that catch my eye (regardless of who makes them) until it dies off.

Oh well. We still have Metroid 2 to look forward to [http://forums.massassi.net/html/redface.gif]

What, Jaiph? You don't like the Disney Sports games? [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

Agreed. And it doesn't mean Factor 5 won't make the next RS game for the new Nintendo, but it would be multiplatform probably.

I will keep buying GC games now...but Nintendo keeps losing all these companies, yet they don't add anyone.

Retro Studios is still something of a new acquisition. The thing about second parties, though, is that Nintendo generally owns a large portion of the company. The fact that Nintendo seems to be fine to let the houses buy back their own stock and go independent is pretty cool, since a company that isn't forced to develop for a certain platform is probably more likely to make a really good game.

Besides. At E3 we're going to see the Nintendo DS handheld, about 30 games for it (some in 3D), a new Metroid, a new Zelda, and a lot of new Gamecube peripherals that could be pretty interesting. The Gamecube isn't dead yet, although Nintendo might end up presenting the Gamecube 2 as soon as the next E3.

(Personally I would wager a guess that the Nintendo DS will also launch with a 2D Metroid and a 3D Zelda)

Still. They lost Rare, then Factor 5, now SK...

They've had Rare since.. forever?

While it was sort of stupid (IMO) for nintendo to lose rare, it was an even bigger blunder for microsoft to aquire them. the games rare makes are completely different then what the XBox's player base wants. the only game they've made that would fit with XBox would be Conker's Bad Fur day. i mean, did you see that haunted house game rare made for the XBox? do you think anyone seriously bought it? i mean, it woul have a hard time selling for nintendo, and that's aimed at its player base!

people bought it for their kids...

the next perfect dark is also coming to the xbox that seems likeit would fit with what the xbox owners want

i appologize to all the gamecube owners without xboxes who are crying right now beause they wanted perfect dark for GCN

anyway... nintendos biggest "WTF are you thinking" move is deciding to no longer put the digital video jack into the gamecube systems... this kinda sucks for people who will buy a GCN after they start doing this specifically those with TVs that can do 480p

right now it already sucks to try to locate the component video cable you need to do this last time i checked NINTENDO'S WEBSITE had it on backorder... i had to buy an import cable from a local used video game store... luckily it was a new cable and it cost about what i would have paid for one from nintendo's website

The advantage is is that you can 'borrow' movies for long amounts of time without him remembering that you borrowed them.

The disadvantage is the pizza cheese grime on the DVDs

Musta been a bad split?

It doesn't just say multiplatform, it says "the company would not develop any more titles for Nintendo's GameCube console". That seems pretty blunt.

That article lacks a few things. This one should clear things up a bit: http://www.gamespot.com/gamecube/action/starwarsrogueleaderrs2/news_6093544.html

Factor 5 isn't developing any new games for any current generation platforms, so no new games for the GC, X-Box, or PS2. They are focusing on the next-greneration consoles, which include the DS and the GCNext.

They have never just developed for Nintendo. They just liked to develop the Rogue Squadron games for the N64 and GC. They have developed video compression tools for different current consoles.

I couldn't care less about Factor 5. To be it bluntly, they, well, suck.

Losing SK is what I don't like to hear.
