Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords was released today. I went down to Best Buy to purchase it, and couldn't find it. I asked the incompetent fool they had working in the games section where it was.

Me: "Do you have the new Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic game availiable?"

Employee1: "You mean Jedi Starfighter? Or maybe Jedi Adacemy, that's the newst one we have. I have never heard of Star Wars Knights or The Sith Lords. Let me ask the other incompetent fool who works in this section."

Employee 2: "I don't think it's out yet. Prolly not until the movie comes out, in July."

Employee 1: "Yeah, I think it comes out in July."

Me: "No, it comes out today."

Employee 2: "No, we work here, we know when it comes out, and it comes out at the same time as the movie, in July."

Employee 1: "I can check the computer."

Employee 2: "No, it comes out in July."

Me: "Check the computer, please."

*Employee 1 checks computer*
......some time later.....

Employee 1: "It's not in the computer."

Employee 2: "THATS BECAUSE IT COMES OUT IN JULY!"

Employee 1: "Yeah, July."

Me: "Today."

Employee 2: "JULY."

Me: "OK, thanks, I guess I will come back later."

Employee 2: "Yeah, it comes out in July..."

Employee 1: "Have a nice day."

Me: "Thanks, you too..."

Employee 2: "...July..."


I left, but not after making a big fuss with their supervisor. I went to Gamestop next.

Me: "Do you have Knights of the Old Republic II yet?"

Gamestop guy: "I don't know, because I am an incompetent idiot. Let me ask my equally incompetent, yet more idiotic supervisor."

Supervisor: "I am incompetent, and just babble incoherently for ten minutes about how I don't know anything about the store I am supposed to run."

Me: "It's sheduled to be released today."

Supervisor: "It's not out until March. Come back in March. Can I interest you in a strategy guide for Halo 2? Or maybe you want to try out a Nintendo DS."

Me: "No thank you... I wanted Star Wars Knights. If you don't have it, I'll be going now."

Gamestop guy: "Leave us your name, address, and phone number, and we will call you when the game comes out."

Supervisor: "Yeah."

Me: "In March, right...?"

Gamestop 1: "Yeah, we'll call you in March."

Me: "No thanks, I thnk I will come back and check later."

Gamestop Guy: "We won't have it later, we'll have it in March."

Supervisor: "Thank you, come again. I hope you were pleased with out service, depite the fact that we are incompetent."

Me: "Ok..."

Gamestop guy: "Have a nice day."

Me: "You too."

Supervisor: "We're incompetent."

Me: "Ehh.... " *exit*


It's so hard to find decent service nowadays. I have no problem with them not having hte game, it's brand new, and it's Christmas. But their stupidity is inexcusable. They weren't tempies, either, their badges stated that they were hired in '02. Fools.

Because everyone who works in retail knows exactly when and where everything they sell is. Give em a break, they saved you from one day of nerd-dom.

Ya, I see your point though that they should at least be able to say "Hey, we SHOULD have this game on the shelves." but then again, they could probably care less.

Luckily, not all of the people who work in electronics/game stores are complete idiots. The guys at EB Games here, for example. They seem to be fairly knowledgeable (wouldn't really know, though) and they're usually pretty good about customer service.

Technically, I think it would be more ignorance than indifference, or a combination of ignorance/incompetence/indifference/other related 'i" words.

Lucasarts is advertising it's availability in stores today. I went to Best Buy and Gamestop and Target and etc, but left with pretty much the exact same experience as you. Gamestop actually mentioned it should be available tomorrow though.

Upon further inspection, it appears to be an XBOX game. Yes...

The PC copy is out in Feburary. That's the copy I intend to get. I had more fun playing KotOR on PC than Xbox, I assume it'll be the same for the sequel.

In all honesty, LucasArts has done a really ****ty job of letting anyone know when or what this game is. I've seen all of one preview, and that was months ago. I've seen no adverts or heard nothing else about it, up until some guy told me it was suppose to be coming out in December.

Heh heh heh...I agree, they should have done more advertising. I remebered commercial after commercial of SW: Battlefront, but never KOTOR:II.

I got pissed just because they pushed the PC version back till Feb.

It's out for XBox, but not for PC until Feb. 5th.

Turns out no stores are putting it out until tomorrow for whatever reason.

Buying it for PC in Feb. Fast loading times baby!

I work with those sorts of people at Walmart.

I almost can't believe how ridiculous some of them are when it comes to dealing with new released video games.

Thus, whenever someone asks anything about a video game, they get sent to me. lol

I know all about stupid EB employees tho. Our local store is absolutely the worst, they've fired all the competant people who used to work there, and replaced them with people who have no knowledge other than pushing the hottest games and toys.

I didn't have any problems with them not having the game, it's to be expected. The fact that they didn't know about the game (or much else) is what irritated me.

Why should they know about a game that's not coming out until July anyways?

I was enjoying reading the thread until "lol" was used as a verb.

The Wal-Mart I work at has a ton of them.... we have a bunch in the back room because there is no more room on the shelves.

I finally got hold of a copy, and so far, it's great. The story has kept me very intrigued, and the characters are very good. Action is the same as before, but the new hand-to-hand combat feature is pretty nice. Play Kotor, then play Kotor 2.

Can't wait til' Christmas, baby. I remeber the gold ol' KOTOR days I spent in. Playing in Christmas time, when there's snow out and it's night time. You can just wrap a blanket around you, and play.

Greatness.

The best thing about KOTOR is the demo of Republic Commando that comes with it.
