It's still the 6th here. 15 years ago, 14 women from my school were shot and killed.

:(

And :( for Pearl Harbour too.

It is sad and all that, and I mean no disrespect towards the holiday nor those dead... But don't we already have a day of mourning, Nov 11th?
2004-12-06, 6:29 PM #5
well, this is more mourning on an anivary of an attack.

This was in montreal correct? We had a minute of silence today for a slaughtering in montreal that happened way back/
"Jayne, this is something the Captain has to do for himself"

"N-No it's not!"

Yeah, at Polytechnique here in Montréal.

Ironically enough on this day of mourning and of sensibility of violence against women, a 13 year-old girl discovered the slayed body of her mother today, here in Montreal. She was slaughtered by her husband.

Well, errr... Yesterday was the 87th year to date of the Finnish declaration of independence from Russia. Joy. Not that it helped much, seeing as little over a year later the situation managed to recede into a civil war at the end of WWI where ~35000 people died...

Well, at least we got rid of most of the hard core communists (or should I say Bolsheviks since those were so old days) and their henchmen, so it's not all bad...

I find it kind of interesting that an Aussie got to creating this thread first. :p

But yes, this is one of the few days I take the time to remember those who passed away in that horrible war.

I know I should carea about pearl harbour, but I really couldnt care less, it was the the fault of the US guys that thought that those planes were their own so they werent ready for the japanese folk...
nope.
2004-12-07, 12:06 PM #18
I really want to point out that if we're thinking about this day, then we might as well think about all the fights and battles that ever happened.

Which means we wouldn't stop.
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

looks flawless to me...

The only flaw I see is that you think you have spotted a flaw in his statement "couldn't care less".
Or atleast thats what I think I've spotted...

umm, lets see, there is somthing on the radar, the radio station is still on, a sign that that plane (forgot what sort it was) was in the air (the radio station usualy closed but stayed open when the plane was in the air so it could use the signal to home in on), you have a government that thinks noone will attack it.

It is quite obvious that anybody would think that the radar blip was their plane and not a japanese fleet of planes coming in for an attack. the guy on the radar and the guy that said it was probbably their plane have lived with the burden of that error for their whole lives, just leave them be.

So... By your logic, you would blame the victim of a murderer because she/he couldn't tell if he/she was going to kill him/her?

The attack on Pearl Harbor was a complete surprise. No one was even half expecting any kind of attack on Pearl Harbor, so you can't blame them for thinking it was their own planes.

And for god's sake man, they got attacked! Shouldn't you care about that? They weren't even in the war at the time! This was not some common attack that they should have been ready for.

... You heard it here first, ladies and gentleman, it was the US' fault Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. In other news, those Jews had it coming!
A desperate disease requires a dangerous remedy.

A major source of objection to a free economy is precisely that it gives people what they want instead of what a particular group thinks they ought to want. Underlying most arguments against the free market is a lack of belief in freedom itself.
