... What am I going to do with you?

I've just gotten to the part in HL2 where Breen is in the combine teleporter and you have to stop him. How do i do this? I know about the little exploding energy balls that you can grab with the gravity gun, do they have anything to do with stopping breen?

Please help.

Fire the energy balls at the spinning metal things. It will take maybe 10 of them or so, but you will eventually break it.

you have to time your throws to try to hit the metal things from the inside to knock them outward... then you gotta shoot at the bright glowy thing a few times i think... i'm not sure if you HAVE to shoot it or if you just have to wait certain amount of time but hoot it anyway

Move to the side so you don't hit the static metal shield. You're trying to hit the rotating metal plates.

Nothing happens, the screen just fades to black (YES I LOST ON PURPOSE).

Go as far left as you can...(I would say either side, which would make sense, but I can only be 100% positive left works )

And then shoot at the rotating things.

Good god, Pagewizard. I don't think it's possible to spell it out for you any better than we already have. If you can find a frickin battery hidden under a tub out in the middle of nowhere, then you can sure as hell figure this out...

My battery was under the hood of a car.
2004-12-06, 10:12 PM #15
Huh. Didn't figure there were more than three. That was the only place in the game where I got stuck for a few minutes. :p

That battery puzzle was excellent. I loved it. And yeah, there were a few. There was also one waaay up on that tower.

MBeggar your instructions are too vague :(

After you get the gravity gun back, you get on the elevator. When you get off, and when breen's done talking, you have to go to the right and jump on some stuff, and keep travelling upwards until you reach the top, where you'll fight two gunships. If you havn't done this yet, that would explain why you're having problems. If you have , blow up the two gunships and keep shooting at the metal spinny things that appear in the center of the portally thing.
Moo.

ah. That explains it.

ah...the battery puzzle, I got myself into some trouble at that point. I spent about 15 minutes trashing the junkyard with the gravity gun for kicks before I realised I needed batteries to get past the gate.

Naturally I'd been giggling like an idiot blasting the things out into the ocean.......whoops.
2004-12-07, 5:30 AM #22
Hehehe, I remember the battery thing. I actually got the buggy onto the other side of the gate without the batteries, by pounding the buggy a ton with the grav gun. But then I accidentally killed myself when I got over there with the damn machine gun secondary fire (I hit the grav gun switch without thinking about it, then suddenly KABOOM!)

The second time I discovered the battery area, and found all the batteries in moments. As soon as I saw the tub I knew there'd be one under there. :D

I'm having trouble understanding why people would expect a car battery[/b] to be under a bathtub[/b], but not under the the hood of a car[/b]. :p

Funny thing; I could have sworn I checked all the cars, but didn't find any. Then I saw the tub and didn't even think that there would be a battery under it. So I was going to pick up the bathtub and fire it at something, but then I picked it up and saw the battery...

Yeah I was looking for the third battery and I saw the tub and I was like "Would they? Nawww..." but I picked it up and there it was.

I'm guessing if you throw the batteries away they respawn elsewhere or something? Cause I never found one on top of the tower. Never checked the cars.

2004-12-07, 1:18 PM #26
I just wandered around inside and got two batteries, then wandered out and saw the bathtub. Of course, after playing the game that far you just KNOW they've put the battery under there. Its so obvious!
"Whats that for?" "Thats the machine that goes 'ping'" PING!
Q. How many testers does it take to change a light bulb?
A. We just noticed the room was dark; we don't actually fix the problems.

there is one under the hood in one of the cars. You have to use the grav gun to get it out.

Wolfy, you're a waste of carbon. :)

Well, at least there's plenty of carbon to go around.

i like how they had barrels and sheets of metal so if you didnt want to find the batteries, you could construct a ramp and jump the wall to the side. that really boosted the "woah... haha cool" value for me

HL2 is sounding more and more like Deus Ex.
