So, today I'm at the chow hall looking for a table to sit at and enjoy my veal parmesan when who do I see hanging out with some of the fellow troops here but Blues Traveler...
Yes, Blues Traveler is throwing a concert here at Incirlik AB, Turkey, (accompanied by the NE Patriots Cheerleaders) tomorrow from 12 noon to 3pm. They stopped at our chow hall for lunch today to meet a few of the people here, sign autographs, and what have you. Not having heard a single Blues Traveler song within the past 5 years, I decided against actually saying "hi" to any of them or asking for their autographs or all around making a fool of myself now that I've forgotten what they "sound" like. But I think one of the things that stood out for me in all this was that one of the men in uniform thanked who I'm pretty sure was John Popper for the group coming out here, and he responded with something like "No, thank you for being out here and doing what you do."
It's nice to see/feel like I'm not sitting in the middle of nowhere for no reason once in a while, you know? Now if I can just find a way to get Dream Theater out here...
