I've just been poking around the internet looking for a Subaru Impreza. I don't have the money for one (sadly), but I just wanted to get an idea of how much I'd be looking at paying. Most of the ones I've found are around $22,000, but then I found this one for only $9,000:

http://used-cars.autos.yahoo.com/usedcars/detail/index.html?cid=automobiles-1081896997-6230053&dst=87.42&rsr=dnR5cGU9YXV0b3MmbWFrZT1zdWJhcnUmbW9kZWw9NzUwMDQ3NjczJmNsX3k9JmNoX3k9JmN sX3ByaWNlPSZjaF9wcmljZT0mY2xfbWk9JmNoX21pPSZjaz0mZ3VyPTIwMCZjc3o9NTMwNDUmY2Vfc2w9Jmc9Jm1rPVN1YmFydSZtbz1JbXByZXphK1dSWCZzdWJtaXQ9U2VhcmNo

Am I missing something big, or is that a really good deal. (I know the car is used). To make this more relevant to everybody, what kinds of things should I look for in a used car? Mileage, price, etc...I'm new at this...

Why an Impreza? Trying to impress someone? [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

Yeah, how's this for odd? My parents haven't been the least bit interested in my love-life my entire life, and now that prom is soon my Dad all of a sudden seems concerned that if I don't find a date and go it will mean I'm a social failure.
I don't get it... I accepted that fact a long time ago, why is he just now realizing it?

The price seems low for a car of its age and mileage. You could run a carfax or autocheck. Goto either of those (*.com) and run the vin. It will give you some information for free and then you can pay for more if you want.

I recently purchased a 2000 Pontiac Trans Am. It had about 25K on the odometer. I ran the vin and the sites said there were ten entries. Funny thing is, they're typically routine stuff. I did determine that the dealer purchased the vehicle at an auction and had the car for a year so I talked him down abit more, though.

There's no way that's right. I'm sure that's a typo or something's seriously wrong with that car, like it's missing the whole right side or something. That is an STi, those are rather pricey, I believe in the $35k range.

Also, if that's the sorta car you're looking for, just wait until the 2005 Altima SE-R comes out. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif] Yeah I'm a Nissan fanboy, if you don't like it go to hell.

Personally I'd avoid buying a black car, but with a limited budget I suppose you can't afford to be picky [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

Yeah, looks like a typo, he was probably typing 29,000 and just missed a key [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

My brother just bought a 2000 Impreza 2.5 RS for $13k. So yeah, if you're looking for a WRX or STI, it's going to be a lot more expensive.

thats an awesome deal, it seems REALLY low. if i hadnt seen the deal i found the other day, i'd think that was bs. i found a 1965 Shelby Cobra replica with a real 427 in it (525hp) for $7,000. i emailed the guy and the price is real, he just needs to get rid of it. i checked the prices for other replicas and they were well over $50k for ones that dont even look as good. this car looked brand new inside and out. if i could afford the insurance, i'd be all over that. if anyone is interested, i'll dig up the link for it.

Always take a used car for a test drive. If you know anything at all about cars, you will listen for knocks in the engine (which is serious bad news), to feeling how it handles at low speeds, and at high speeds, watch for overheating, make sure all features are at least in somewhat working order. Stuff like wiper blades and radiator caps are easily replaced and easy on the wallet. Tires are a little more pricey, as well as the windsheild.

Oh, I could go on and on, but one thing is for sure. Any used auto parts or a "pick-your-part" shops are your best friends when it comes to used vehicles...
