The MadaMemorial Level Pack: Revisited
2004-12-09, 4:04 PM #1
Well, I was going through the Previous Thread and wondered what happened to everyone who was going to make a map?

So, to celebrate our friend, and to mourn his death, I am reposting this idea to get more people involved.

If you're interested in making a map for JK/MotS or JO/JA, e-mail me at MaDamemorial@sorrowind.net

The rules for the levels are as followed:

The levels must use as many, or many of Mada's Textures.
The levels must be in good taste. Tombstones and such while they may not be intended to offend, could be considered offensive. If you have to ask if it'll be too offensive, it is.
They SHOULD be multiplayer. If you need assistance with cogging, or anything really, contact me at the above e-mail. If you've got an idea for a SP level, e-mail me, and we'll talk about making it seperate, but supported by the pack.
Originality is key.

Props to:
Halucid
Kyle09
Thrawn[numbers]
GothicX

These are the only people who've showcased, or done anything. Hopefully, the following people will contact me, or post here on their level's status, or whatever that may be that keeps them from finishing:

BV
Freelancer
Sine Nomen
SilentSavur
Tony
a_person
Darth J
Snake-Eyes
Arkon11
Darko
Is_907
dflt
moneyobie

These people offered to either do something for JK/MotS or JO/JA, so if you're still interested, e-mail me.

These people deserve honorable mentions:

FCTuner04, Mada's friend for his blessings
Yecti, The_Mega_ZZTer, Cool Matty, Hebedee, MrRavenX, DrkJedi82, FastGamerr, at0m, GhostofYoda, and SDA_Lakuti for salvaging efforts on The Limelite, as well as Mada's textures.
Checksum and Lucky_Jackpot for offering Cogging assistance; they're still offering it by the way.
Brian for hosting madaventor.net, The_Mega_ZZTer, Is_907 for salvaging and working on it.
NoESC, and MaxisReed for server space offerings. We were never worried about where we'd host this because of you guys.
Mano for offering to do a portrait. We'd still love to see that.
Keith Marshall is on a missions trip, and couldn't possibly do a level while on a missions trip, but still offered to do so.
TheGJ for converting textures for me.
Especially GothicX for assisting me with the JO/JA portion of the project. He was also a great moral support for the dark times after Mada's death. Thanks man.
And Ubuu, for understanding.

Thanks to Massassi as a whole too, for supporting the MaDamemorial Level Pack Project. This was really questionable in taste, for me, and the fact that everyone seemed to give their blessings made it right. Thanks guys.

Now, for the rest of you people, GET TO WORK. Those that are on the list for levels, get cracking. Those who are interested, sign up. Come on people, we need as much as we can get!

Seeing the other thread reminded me about this. I've been busy lately (I had no idea how much work university is), but I've started up again. I have yet to get the hang of making stuff from 3dos...

As I've said before... even if I have to make every damn level in this pack, it will be done. Of course I am glad it won't have to come to that. There must be some amoung us that also feel they owe this to Adam.

On this, the anniversary of his passing, I've taken off from work to focus my entire day to my 2 memorial maps. Now I don't expect that kind of dedication from most... but at least a little from some. We all know he was well worth it.

Now let's see those tasty screenshots! ;)

Speaking of cogging, is there an elevator cog that activates when you click on a thing instead of a surface?

I would like to help, but I no longer have my JK cd's, and I was never much of an editor anyways.

But it's the thought that counts, right?

kyle90: yes, or it would be very easy to make one. Ask the cog forum.

when Mzzt and I did the memorial site we put up all the textures for you guys to use... i think. that was my contribution to the pack since i can't, at this point, make levels.

oh, and i THINK i found a beta of ASF2 for Quake3... i'll have to dig that out for us ;)

hmmm, yes I'll keep my word. If you could provide me a link where these textures are hosted. I do have a few of them, but would like more.

Does anyone have a star texture by mada, or any sky texture would be helpful, but preferably stars.
Spoting an error in post will result in a $100 reward.
Offer expires on 6/6/06. Valid one per customer, per day.

Arkon: download 'em at http://www.thelimelite.net (MaDa's own site) and http://www.madaventor.net (the site that Is_907 is speaking of)... those are all the known downloadable textures.

Also everyone, don't forget his MLP4 textures! Everything from Xyloid Backbone is his own creation, and most everything from Decimation... most of these texture aren't available for download on either site, but you can always extract them from these maps!

On that note, a_person, check out Island Ruins... he had a starry texture in it.... it may have been an LEC texture, but if I were you I'd use his awesome moon texture he made for it.

You can download all of these maps here at Massassi or at the Limelite.

I am going to try to get a level going, however it depends on how fast I can remember how to edit in JED.
Kirby, I will contact you as soon as I have some solid details on the level.

We should have an officially downloadable Mat pack so that our levels could all share textures.
That painting was a gift, Todd. I'm taking it with me.

Dude, I posted it twice. That's it. That's what you have to work with, as well as any extra textures.

Just leave the mat files their original .jpg name, that way I don't have to go through all the .gobs and rename .mat files to cut down on the level's size.

Perhaps a downloadable .mat pack would be at hand, but I'd need some people to convert.

I have converted quite a few of them already; if I have time I'll finish them up. The problem that I have is that they're all JPEGs and Mat16 only batch converts bmps, but when I mass convert the JPEGs in BMPs in another program, Mat16 screws up, so I'm converting them all seperately from JPEG to Mat.

But anyways, I'll email it to you Kirb if I finish it.

Are you doing those within the MLP2 pack, as well as a couple of his other maps, like Halucid suggested?

I got wound up in work and school and didn't have much time to edit. School's out in three days, so I'll have much more free time to do something. Count me in.

Kirb: No, I was just using the ones from the website, and it doesn't look like I'll have anytime to do it before Christmas... busy time when you work at a restaurant.

Don't worry, Halucid is already on the job. Should be posting a link any time soon.
