Need some LAN game ideas
2004-12-10, 9:48 AM #1
Me and my buddies have a LAN party planned for the holidays, but I'd like to try out some games other than the one we usually play, so I need some ideas.

We usually play MoH:AA and CS, along with a little SoF and Postal 2.

I'm thinking of getting in a little UT this time, but I need more ideas. As you can tell, we're mostly FPS fans, but open to just about anything (other than Starcraft). :p Anything with team play would be great.

So, post your games for my LAN party!

Bomberman, GTA 1, old skool UT, quick blasts on Q2DM1 are always fun too... errr.... Q3 demo level with the bouncy pads also rocks...

*Runs out of ideas*

Also provide cards for between game poker tourneys to keep your eyes working, and provide drinking opportunites.

(God, just remembered the last time I played poker.... there was much man-nakedness....*shudders*)

UT2k4, raven shield. That's mostly what we play at lans.
The music industry is a cruel and shallow money trench where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.

Martyn: There will be plenty of beer to go around. We usually have the N64 hooked up for some old-school style Goldeneye while waiting for someone to install a game or something, but a game of cards would be great, and drinking games even better. :D

Flex: UT2k4 is definitely on the list if I can find it somewhere here. I've looked around everywhere and I can't find a copy of it. :( I've never played Raven Shield, but I heard it's great. We'll have to try it.

Soldier of Fortune II.

It's an older game, yes. But we found that having five people running around in a room trying to chuck knives into each other's head gets hilariously fun, especially after four energy drinks at 3 A.M.

Clueless: The first or second? I've never played them.

Wolfy: We already play SoF 1. :p I've never tried the second one yet. It is much different?

UT2k4, Battlefield Vietnam, Star Wars Battlefront, Warhammer 40k Dawn of War, and CS are the games that I usually play at lans.

Just get the Gold edition, it is the first and second in one, and it costs about $10. The games are almost the same, the first one is set in egypt and the second in south america with a few new weapons that you get in the first level.

The game is so very fun coop. It is the game I play the most whenever I get LAN games going. And you can have up to 16 people playing cooperatively.

SS MP is great -- you can actually play through the game in one shot, since you respawn if you die. :D

Have you tried Total Annihilation, or is it too old for your tastes?
woot!

How about WarCraft 3 or WarCraft 2?
Or Diablo 2.
And if you don't like them you could always revert to StarCraft: Broodwar.

I just talked to one of my buddies, and he has both SS1 and 2, so we'll be giving them a shot.

I've never heard of Total Annihilation, what is it?

I just played Serious 2. Man, I cannot get over the MP in that game. Holy ****! Blasting away hundreds of swarming enemies like that is the most fun I've had in a long time! I wish I had discovered this when it came out. :(

Total Annihilation came out in the age of WC2, and spanked the pants off of it. Let's just say it beats Command and Conquer.
