I'm beginning to get bored of UT2k4. I need new game ideas, this is what I've come up with.

Painkiller(what's this one about?)
FarCry(ditto)
Morrowind(I haven't gotten it yet)
The expansion for C&C Generals
Battlefield Vietnam(debateable, I wasn't impressed with 1942)
Various Battlefied 1942 expansions(ditto)
MechWarrior 4: Mercenary
Command and Conquer Red Alert Counterstrike and Aftermath(if I can find them)

I can't think of anything else. What should I look into?

Also, which do you like better, C&C Red Alert 2(Yuri's Revenge Optional) or C&C Generals? I liked Red Alert 2 because while it was short, it had a plot and Generals didn't. Besides...they took Hell March out. Losers.

Far Cry rocks. If your box can run it at decent detail levels, get it and love it.

The advantage is is that you can 'borrow' movies for long amounts of time without him remembering that you borrowed them.

The disadvantage is the pizza cheese grime on the DVDs

I liked RA2 better than Generals. While the graphics are better in Generals, there's a larger and more varied selection of units in RA2. It's just more fun.

You should definately try the demos of some of these games.

Painkiller really isn't about anything. It's a mindless shoot-em-up like Serious Sam, if that's your thing. I wouldn't bother with the BF1942 expansions at this point, and if the game isn't your thing to begin with, then chances are, Battlefield Vietnam won't be either. You should try giving 1942 another chance however, preferably on a 32+ player server with a good map like Wake.

Morrowind is a nice game. While I tired of it after a while, you can't really beat the GOTY edition for $27.90 with both expansions. I doubt you'll still find new copies of the Red Alert 1 expansions these days. A bundle was still around a year ago in some places, but that has since disappeared. There is, however, a nice $20 collection with the newer games here, for whatever it's worth.

Other solid games released recently are Hidden and Dangerous 2 (squad-game, SP/MP demos available), Freedom Fighters (SP only), Far Cry (SP Demo), Call of Dutry (SP demos) and Max Payne 2 (Demo).

I enjoy a lot of older games... Even if the main reason is that anything more advanced than Morrowind cannot run on my computer...

Of course, I recommend playing a wide range of games, from all technology levels. If you haven't played all the best raycasting games, do so. Try HeXen (From Raven) or Outlaws (from LEC).

Don't go for MechWarrior 4. I don't know if it was just me or what, but I found the demo very very lame. It's the only game I know of where the graphics went from being pretty good in MechWarrior 3, to complete CRAP in MechWarrior 4. At least it's always looked like this on my machine. Quick example, in MW3, Missiles actually LOOKED like missiles. In MW4, they were triangles. I think the models in MW4 got less detailed as well, not to mention the textures looked far more bland. Overall, I found MW4 to be a rather disapointing game visually for a sequel. You expect things to get better, not worse.

The old OMF was good. OMF:Battlegrounds was not worth what I paid for it. Prince of Persia is much fun if you haven't played that yet. Or Halo on PC. Other than that, I'm currently playing through Painkiller and having a blast. So that's a good game to get.

Darn, that's kinda disappointing. I have it but my computer isn't fast (or good?) enough to run it (neither is my friend's, and his was brand new when we tried back just after christmas).

If it's really not that great, it's a good thing I didn't pay for my copy (Christmas present).

Battlegrounds isn't horrid, but it's not as casual-gamer friendly as other games. You need to spend some quality time with it to ge combos going so that you can win. Even on the easiest difficulty, I was having a lot of trouble. I haven't finished the game yet. Of course, part of it could be that it doesn't run spectacularly on my laptop.

My main suggestion would have to be for PainKiller. I didn't think it would be that good, and didn't know if my system would handle it, but sure enough, the game ran smooth on high-detail mode, AND was a complete blast to play. There is just so much more to this game than the, "kill everything that moves" cliche it has to it.

I'll take some screen shots later this evening and post them. It can't possibly be my graphics. Everything is set to it's max setting and I have an ATi Radeon 7500LE.

I even thought gameplay wasn't as good as in MW3. I dunno.

Halo is gobs more fun on XBox, and not just becuase of Co-Op either. I just find the whole expirence better. I got used to the force feedback from the controller, when I started on the PC, I had trouble adjusting becuase I relied on that "sensory input". Reguardless, it's still decent on PC, but I think the XBox version is superior.

I started taking MW screens. A long and tedious process that involves me going in, playing, takeing a screen, alt-tabbing out, and pasting into Photoshop, then returning to play. I got bored of it quickly, they'll get posted tomorrow.
