Important patches released...

...although this "headline" is a few days old, Microsoft released this important patch
to avert hackers from taking over your Operating System. The actual link should be there, or else go to www.microsoft.com and find it there...

Yaay, another security hole in windows. I swear windows 95 and 98 never had this many important updates. Don't they test software nowadays? It seems with games too there are *always* patches. Remember the days of JK? There was one patch and you only needed it if you used a joystick.

^^ Think of all the bugs in JK that would have been fixed had they been releasing more patches...

Security patches are good. I just got a Gentoo Linux kernel patch that corrected an exploit that allowed a malformed CD-ROM to take over the computer. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

You know what, they say that same crap in EVERY SINGLE SECURITY UPDATE THEY RELEASE. When I got my security update CD (finally) 2 days ago, it only had two things for me under Win2k. SP4 and some stupid security update. The description for the security update on the CD was vague as hell. The description for it online wasn't any better. Furthermore, upon inspection of the updates for the other versions of Windows, every single security update for those had the SAME DESCRIPTION. It told me nothing about what it fixed, what the problem was, what the implications were, NOTHING.

I decided against installing it. I don't put crap on my system unless I know what it is. I don't know what this is. Sure, it's a security update, but is it one I need? Will it fix something I've maybe been having problems with? It tells me nothing. I'm not installing it. I don't expect a 3 page description of what it does and the problem, a paragraph will do. I find it annoying that they expect people to blindly install these things and take it for granted that it won't screw something else up or hog resources protecting your system from something that doesn't affect you.

WTF DO YOU THINK 95 AND 98 SPECIAL EDITIONS WERE? BUG FIXES! And btw I can point out atleast 16 major bugs with JK that need a patch that they never released... in fact I will...

1) Fuel tanks exsploding would crash the game at times.
2) Max would never follow you correctly.
3) Dark Jedi's paths never worked right. (They'ed get stuck so easily)
4) Your guns were over powered compared to AI
5) You could quicksave as you died. (Falling off the cliff was great for this)
6) AI characters at times were placed underneath elevators at spawn.
7) Multiplayer TCP/IP searching was buggy at best.
8) Sometimes you couldn't enter the game even after you contacted the server... it would just wait at the loading screen.
9) Mouse roll buttons do not work right.
10) You could use force protect without any mana.
11) Force protect stopped everything... it was unholy.
12) Patroling enemies would not be alerted to fallen comrades.
13) Kyle didn't have a beared in the game but had one in the movies. (More something stupid than a bug)
14) Multiplayer check sum test never worked very well... which leads to 15
15) HACKING! WAS TOO EASY! ANY NOOB COULD RUIN A GAME!
16) AI would walk at a cliff but never actually fall off the edge... you wouldn't notice this unless you really watched them.

I could go on with a few more but belive me they could have released a patch for more than just joystick bugs.

The moral of the story... nothing is perfect leave Microsoft alone I mean it could be worse... they could find these bugs and not bother to fix them cause technically its not their problem... its not Microsoft who hacks your system.

-You must not have been trying very hard...I could kill someone with force protection easily. Just hit the area around them, it may block the fired rounds but it doesn't block explosions. It's called tact. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

13) Kyle didn't have a beared in the game but had one in the movies. (More something stupid than a bug)
-I'm pretty sure on the facial textures they gave him some bearding, but since they were pretty low-tech textures, you can't tell that well.
