My brother is engaged
2004-12-12, 2:38 PM #1
I found out the other day my oldest brother is finally engaged. He will be getting married in July and will be 35. He is the 3rd to marry, and is the oldest of 5.

And I'm the best man.

Him and his fiancee thought it would be cool if the youngest of 5 is the best man for the oldest of 5. I just thought "Bachleor party". I don't even have to drive the car around at the wedding cause they are going to use a fire engine. But I be damned if I'm not gonna ride on that thing to the reception. The only thing is I have to give the toast/speech at the reception, which I have no problem speaking in front of strangers, but my mom told me to tell her what I'm going to say. When my 3rd brother married (he was the first), my second brother Greg didn't want to give the toast and asked me earlier if I would. I told him that if I was to give the toast, I would stand up and say "To Brad, you were the first of us to ruin your life."

So I've been thinking of saying "To Peter, you were the first of us to choose a wife worth keeping."

And of course, I'm going to get another 'N Sync dance in at the reception.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

As the best man, it's your job to roast the groom a little bit during the toast. Funny, embarassing stories that most people don't really know about.

My brother got engaged about a month ago. He called me to tell me about it and I was like "Cool, I gotta go" and hung up on him.

I really dont like his fiancee.

Well when I first met his fiancee (back when they were just dating) I thought "Dayum this lady is hot." And that was the first thing I said when my other brothers asked what I thought of her.

It's cool because my mom actually likes her, which is very rare considering my mom has hated almost every woman any of us have dated. I guess because my mom is a teacher and so is this lady.

Well, make your speech the way YOU want to write it... Sounds like you might have to tell your mother to butt out... again... It's really none of her buisiness to read your speech.

CP, for once I actually want my mom's help. Seriously, I know that if I make this speech up by myself and don't run it past her, I really will say something incredibly rude and embarassing. I asked my mom to help me on this. I'm going to make it up and let her be sure it's not "bad".
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

Ah. Then ignore my second comment :)

No problem. Given my frequent rants about my mom I understand that it is quite odd for me to mention my mom is a positive manner.
