The new Painkiller expansion

It's called Painkiller: Battle out of Hell

Has anyone played it? I own the original and I'm wondering if I should get the expansion. I know there are new monsters, but is it just more of cutting your way through endless crowds of enemies like the first game was?

The graphics are amazing, but battling wave after wave of monsters gets boring and repetitive after awhile.

IGN only gave it a 7.5/10, then again they only gave Painkiller a 7.0/10...b**tards.

Gamespot:

Painkiller - 8.5/10 (User Rating: 8.2/10)
Battle out of Hell - 7.5/10 (User Rating: 8.5/10)

I say go for it. It looks sweet as hell...(PUN'd)

So your telling us that a game of endless violence doesn't make you want to play it? The screenshots for the expansion look good but its still going on a rampage through demons, I loved the original and I didn't even get to finish it.

Besides, grabbing something by the arm and bringing it towards your spinning weedwhacker, only to be whacked into all the other zombies, then watching them sprawl everywhere, grabbing one by the face, and timing it just right to launch it into the sky is fun. Yes yes yes very fun. Also see how many things you can get onto one stake (my record is 3.5. The .5 is because it got hit in the arm, but fell off :( )

Painkiller has to be one of my alltime favorite games. Even if it is just pointless killing, it's so SEXY!!!!!!!!

I'm not saying that it isn't a great game, its just that it gets a
little repetitive after awhile. It's a matter of

1. Kill the enemies
2. step into the red marker
3. repeat as mecessary

I'd love some puzzles to break things up a little bit. The only level that had me stuck was that old monastary level. (how do you beat that, anyway? I could never find all the enemies.)

The engine is beautiful. Virtually every architectural detail is 3d, and the textures are beyond belief. The only part that dissapointed me is that while the game has great physics, the game never makes any real use of them other than in a few areas. Environments look great, but they don't feel quite real (they feel rigid and solid) as compared to the physics used in other games that use the havok engine, like Hl2.

The stake gun is cool, but i'm looking for a mod that would make it more powerful (i.e. make staked enemies fly through the air until they hit a wall or something.)

I agree, painkiller is lots of fun, but does get very repetitive.
The cards were a cool idea, as is being able to bind a key to fire a specific gun much faster then if you switched to it then switched back.
Lots of cool ideas, but it all rolled out into something that, alas, grows boring and repetiitive.
That said, I'll be getting the expansion, I've decided the first one was entertaining enough for me to give it another whirl.
