Ive read in two different reviews that you can play 4 player coop in halo 2, however ive tried and cant figure it out. So how do you do it?

I really have never tried it, but if it were possible, I'd imagine it'd be by going to co-op in system link, and having two per Xbox.

No, it doesn't work, at least on the European version. We tried it at our uberlan, and it didn't work. SO then we played some Coag.

I think many magazines get confused with the fact the character selection for split screen has four slots. The co-op mode can only be played with two slots occupied though, the others are there so you can switch easily to multiplayer mode and not have to re-select characters.

Nah, there is no 4 player co-op... if there is, we didn't get it working... two TV's two systems, 4 people and a link cable didn't work we could create a co-op game room in the loby, but the other Xbox could not see and join it, so we played some MP instead.

There was supposed to be linksys coop, but bungie never got around to making it work.
