Yea, I have a 300MB AVI from Fraps, and I'd like to resize it, compress it, and convert it to a .mov. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

use divx instead. it offers way better compression than quicktime.

I'm compressing to .mov for a reason, so it'll play in a browser window. And your response didn't help me, I still need a program or something to convert.

Or export to divx and play it in a browser window. You do realize that not all .movs play in browsers either. And yes, all .avis can, just gotta embed them in the webpages, just like .movs.

But if you still want to use the inferior .mov format, go ahead. Be prepared for larger file sizes, crappy transformation (From going from AVI to MOV), and buggy playback.

Adobe Premiere, a $400 program, has a free trial that might be able to do it for you. I know the full version does, but I do not know the restrictions on the trial.

But please, hear me out. DON'T USE MOV. Kthnx.

Yea, tried that Adobe thing, didn't work to well. I still have pretty large file sizes. I'll trade MOVs for well compressed AVIs at this point, I just need some type of movie format which is a reasonable size.

If Adobe didn't work well, you aren't going to get any better. Thus, the reason .movs suck.

Anyway, go DIVX .avi

Especially XviD. www.xvid.org

You can always try this. It's free. And it makes EXEs. Although you can't stream 'em or put 'em in a browser.

Valve used it for all their HL2 trailers.
