JO Question

Sorry if this has been posted before or if I posted in the wrong board.

Ok,I got back into playing Jedi Outcast after a couple of levels were released. I extracted them to the Base folder,as always.

Now,when I go to the game and click on the Mod option....no mods what so ever show up. Skins, weapons, levels. You name it.

I just tried the game again, and the Mod option isnt even there. When I remove the mods from the Base folder, the mod option re-appears.

Help!

OK... I know what you shall do.

If it is a singleplayer mission without mods, type the following into your console:

\map firstlevel_name

Now, to find out what levels are in the package, open the PK3 files as you would a ZIP file, and find BSP files (should be in a folder called MAPS). Which is the first? If you're lucky, people have numbered them. Otherwise, there should be a file somewhere telling the order of the maps. But, for some reason I can't find it.

Anyway, if this is a singleplayer mission with mods, you can either upgrade your JO game, or extract your PK3s to seperate folders inside the GameData folder and make BAT files for each one where you run the program followed by the folder name... I don't remember how, though. I would have remembered if I had kept one of my BAT files.

If these are Multiplayer level packs without mods, then you can open them the same way you open the default levels. If there's a mod, then... I think the mod menu in settings works there... Though I'm not sure... I do know something... My first JO mod (very simple), is able to work by just dropping it into the base folder. It would be the Ugnaut Sound mod.

Hope I've been of some help.

Anything you put in the base folder is loaded automatically; you only need to use the mod manager when dealing with actual game mods. The levels you installed should show up when you choose the gametype they're under, or, if they're singleplayer, you should be able to load them through the console (they should have readmes for how to do this)

Hope that helps

So,even if they dont show up in the box to select and load mods.....they should still work?

I got the levels to work using Edwards post. But still cant get just skins and other things like that to work.

Ok, for example you downloaded my Roger Wilco Skin for Mp you just have to put the Roger.pk3 file into your base directory and run the game. You'll see you can select the skin....

Wow. An on topic thread! That's like the first time, in mabye a year. With the way the JK series went down the drain, this has drifted in to beging a general gaming forum instead of a JK/JO/JA forum. :p
