Hey guys, I'm a huge fan of the total war series was wondering how many of you are psyched for the long-awaited "Rome: Total War" to come out?
It is scheduled for a "Fall 2004" release, so we'll have to wait a bit for it, but damn, does it look awesome!Imagine having battles with over 10,000 troops like these pics in real-time!

That looks a lot like Medeival: Total War. Is it the sequel? If so, I wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole.

I really enjoyed Shogun: Total War.

This, however, is totally 3D. it's prolly one of the best rendering engines out there.

lol, you must be clinically insane. Medieval: Total War is the best damn Strategy game in years! No other strategy game yet can compare to it's huge scope in battles (and excellent control of the units) until, that is, Rome:Total War is unleashed apon the gaming masses.

I doubt the show Time Commanders is shown outside the UK but that is a gameshow(kinda) which uses the Rome:Total War engine (And most of the code and such) it looks like an impressive game.

I defenitely recommend The Battle of Cannae (episode 7) with Hannibal Barca fighting the largest Roman army ever assembled. I am hooked on this show!

Wow. That is amazing. I remember getting AoE and watching the intro cutscene for the first time. And now, the actual gameplay looks like the cutscenes used to look! What's it gonna be like in another 5 years?

Dormouse, it IS very intuitive and will have excellent command controls. Ask anyone who has played Mideival:Total War, and they'll tell you that fighting a battle with thousands of troops is surprisingly easy to command. It is for me, and I just fought a battle with 3,000 troops vs. 5000 enemy troops. It all comes down to successfull planning, deployment, and execution of your battle strategies.
