i need some good fantasy reading. specificaly stuff related to Arthurian legends.
i have not read anything related yet so i'm a newb ;)

it's preferable that these books be available on amazon... i'll be ordering Eragon from amazon soon so may as well make it a big(ger) order.
(Somehow i lost my precious hardback copy of Eragon before we moved this summer =/ still haven't figured out where i left it... now i need another copy... badly)

Mary Stewart. 'the crystal cave' and the ensuing series. awesome fecking books. tells the arthurian legend from merlins perspective(except the last one which is from mordred's)

rely's on a lot of actual history and folk history, rather than pure fantasy. awesome books. Dor, since i know you'll be coming in here, i reccomend them to you too.
My girlfriend paid a lot of money for that tv; I want to watch ALL OF IT. - JM

DO NOT BUY THE ONCE AND FUTURE KING BY TS ELIOT.

For god's sake, the man can't carry a story worth of crap.

With the exception of the second book/part (a little boring, somewhat hard to follow, for me at least), I generally enjoyed "Once and Future King" when I read it.

Then again, I do almost all my reading right before I go to sleep at night, and I'm never very picky about what I read then since it's just to get myself all settled down and stuff.

Anyhow, I haven't read "Book of Merlin" yet, but I do plan to, someday. (Apparently it's the last book/part of "Once and Future King," if anyone was wondering.)

(And, of course, if you haven't heard of these books IS_907, they're a fairly classic telling of the Arthur and Merlin legend, from a fantasy point of view. I would suggest at least checking them out, since you're into that sort of thing.)

It's easily the most boring book I've ever read. I'm a fan of Arthurian legends, but having read nothing concrete on them, reading through that was like continually cutting myself with a dull knife. For a beginner, I would NOT reccommend reading it, unless you're into the whole symbolism is better than actual content thing.

Yeah, he's a good writer, yeah, he's got great style, no, he can't make the book interesting. You have to reach and think for it to be interesting. While I certainly don't want my books spoon-fed to me, Eliot, like most classical writers, I find, doesn't want to give you anything in an interesting format--just gives you the 'facts', and lets your mind do the rest. I find this style of writing completely pointless and numbing to my brain.

This is of course just me--I just strongly reccommended against because there have to be better books out there somewhere for a beginner.
