There aren't any in stock. Usually, when something is out of stock, they'll raise the price to deter people from trying to buy it anyway.

Usually when things aren't in stock, you can't buy them ;)

Yeah, they just say "out of stock" I've never heard of anyone raising the prices while its out of stock.

If they're out of stock simply because they didn't order enough into their store, yet it's otherwise widely available, then no, it's not typical to raise prices. But if it's rare, uh.. duh they raise the price.

Honestly, I couldn't care less.

Rare? ...so you'd pay 200 bucks for a Ti4400 just because it's rare? Come to think of it...I have an 8mb ATI Rage Pro with svideo and composite out...$159 -- want it? :D

He has a point though, hard to find items are generally more expensive.
But standard items that are simply out of stock? Not likely.

Cadet, it doesn't apply so much to technology because it goes obselete before it becomes rare. The statement only stands if it's both rare and sought after.

Older items that have stopped production are generally pretty expensive. Look at the prices of Pentium 3's (especially the higher end ones) from places that still sell them new. It's generally items that sort of stopped selling well, and just never dropped far from their original price, yet places still sell a very select few of them.

That's just how the PC hardware industry works.

Is this the one with the lifetime warranty?

Honestly, depending on the specs, I could see it. Hell, they're still selling 9600 AIW's for ~200 bucks.
