... I can't believe I mistook that for CGI. Just the fact that it's stop motion would get props from me, but considering the names behind it, there isn't any way it could suck.

Um...sarcasm. I think he was just noting on how the pic looks too damn good for stop motion.

Indeed. Like people on the forums say,"That's not JK!" when the picture is obviously JK. *sigh*

Feel free to kill me, but I've never seen A Nightmare Before Christmas from start to finish. I found it boring.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

I can't seem to pull sarcasm from that at all.

Meh, whatever. My statement still stands though. A LOT of people on these boards often don't read enough, or at all.

And is there any reason why stop motion can't look that good? Seeing as how little it's used, comparisions as to what looks good for stop motion can't really be made. Add into that the fact that how good it appears is meaningless if the animator doing it blows.

... I'm babbling and making little sense... I think I'll stop now.

The shot just looked like CGI. I dunno, from others, I may not have been able to pull sarcasm, but it's Echoman, he usually doesn't miss things like that.

How exactly do they do stop-motion professionally?

I'm sure everyone's done stop-motion at home with a video camera, moving clay figures or some lego contruction ever so slightly. It's fun, but it takes ages. Surely they can't have some bloke that sits there and moves the characters manually?

Generally they have lots of scenes that are being worked on at the same time by separate teams. It does take a long time. If I remember correctly, they could only animate two seconds at 24 fps a day for each scene for Nightmare before Christmas.

In addition, lots of teams use Phil Tippet's patented method of moving the limb slightly when capturing the frame, which helps to remove the tell-tale stutter motion and gives a smooth motion blur for 24fps.
If it breaks, you get to keep both pieces.

Me: http://forums.massassi.net/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=28204
Friend: HAH
Friend: AWEOMSE
Friend: also i like how one idiot had to say "thats cg"
Friend: and the entire thread went into discussing if it was sarcasim or not
Me: yup, thats massassi.
Me: they couldn't keep a topic on track if Jesus himself posted it
Me: then again half of them would debate if jesus was real or not, and then all the atheists would be like THAR IS NO JEBUS! and the Christians would call them morons..and the mormons would be like who called us?! then they'll all be like NOT MORMON! MORON! YOU MORON MORMON! Then Jesus would just give up on earth because people are so stupid, the Jahovas Witnesses would try and get people to join their religion in the thread, then an admin would close the thread, and there would be a few threads WHY DID J00 CLOSE TEH JESUS THREAD! And they would all become seperate debate. By that time God would have found out how sad and pathetic we all are, and he'd destroy earth...

Yeah, that shot does remind me a bit of James and the Giant Peach. It's the same style, but overall looks a lot cleaner than both Peach and Nightmare.

I think it would take a pretty stupid atheist to suggest that Jesus Christ didn't exist...
