If we ever get new boards, I demand that we add in a feature that ignores your own posts when ordering the topics from newest to oldest. Theres no point in rereading your own posts.

1) It takes ages to delete posts
2) Lack of sticky topics
3) Admin features lack a lot of vital tools
4) Slow
5) I'm pretty sure other forum software can have "hidden" forums. It's not like it's a special setting in UBB, we simply don't put the forum in a catagory like all the others.

You can have hidden forums in phpBB.

Having installed most of the public and pay-to-use board software out there, I can safely say that all the features this board has they have, and more. Besides that, they also usually come with better stability and speed. The only reason I can see not to upgrade to something like invisionboard (please no phpBB2) is because you've just had this for so long.

While my postcount is low, I've been lurking for years. Why not upgrade? We have the technology...

We can rebuild it, make it faster, stronger, better then before.

These forums are probably the fastest around... if you think their slow your connection sucks... I mean to be honest these threads take what 3 to 6 seconds to load on a good day... some forums take a good 15 seconds to load because we have to load every stupid signature picture that you think is great and just want to share with the world or every little avitar you think is cool... I say you leave the damn things alone they work fine the second you change them something is gonna go wrong and everyone who wants them changed is gonna start complainning about whats wrong with the new ones.

The great thing about board softwares is that you can disable all those things...

Look, you're not an admin so you're don't even know half of what's wrong with these forums. But trust me, there's a lot.

What i like about this place is that the forums do not have topics on them that are a month old unless its an interesting one.

I fail to see how faulty admin software is my problem. I was talking about the overall layout and speed of the boards. The admins problems are hardly my consern and I could care less.

The only thing keeping me from banning you is the fact that it would take too long and I'm too lazy. Thats how it affects you.

Seriously though, I have to agree with Detty. The admin functions on these forums take ages to complete. Just searching for a single users account on the cp will take up to 5 minutes for the scripts to find the information. Closing and moving threads also takes an eternity. It had nothing to do with the connection speed of user, its all the amount of time it takes the server-side scripts to execute. Some of this is apparent to the users too, when they try to delete posts (especially if its the first post of a thread), and when threads get so long that the forum starts to have problems with the layout.

I also used to be of the opinion "if it aint broke, dont fix it." Well, from an Admin point of view, the only thing keeping these forums from breaking is a bit a gum wedged in the cracks and a bit of luck. The software is old, and buggy, and we dont even have a quarter of the amount of control over the way things work that you get with more modern forums.

Massassi will be upgrading to new forums, its only a matter of time until it happens.

If possible, I say we should upgrade the forums, but retain the way the forums look as much as possible. I like the dark color scheme because it's easy on the eyes. Go into one of those white-and-blue forums, and your eyes will hurt after only a few minutes.

...or maybe that's just me. My eyes seem to have developed a sensitivity to light recently.

Making a massassi theme for any modern board software should only be a matter of changing the stylesheet, because there's no images here.

Someone mentioned about not seeing topics older than a month. Same as this board, new software comes with a trim option. View topics from last day/2 days/5 days/10 days/month. Plus, they have the ability to automatically remove topics from the database after a certain amount of time. BLAH BLAH BLAH I can't understand why some people don't want to upgrade. If you had a home that was being held together by scotch tape and chewing gum, wouldn't you want an upgrade? Especially if it was free?

The ISB needs sticky topics. Thank you.
