Does anyone have links to understand linux and such? I'm just updating by Up2Date for now. I looked at the instructions for updating my GF2 drivers though and it looked complicated. I wanted to print the instructions then realized my printer is set up. Then I realized I couldn't access the network yet. Anyways, friendly suggestions are welcome.

At least installing it was easy, now if only I can find how much hard drive space I have left...

To update the drivers, you'll have to download them from nVidia's website, disable X.org, and recompile the kernel wit them. nVidia provides a nifty installer that does most of it for you.

I'm not trying to sound condescending when I say this, so please don't take it as a "RTFM," but the man pages for all the programs you use are very useful. And running anything in the console with -h or --help can solve a lot small problems. It gets easier once you've used it for a while and can figure out what everything means. That failing, Google usually turns up the answer to just about any question you could have. With as many Linux users as there are, it is most likely that at least one person has asked a question you already have.

If you ask for help on a specific issue, I'm sure all of us Linux using Massassians would be happy to help. GBK has helped me out a lot, as has Cool Matty. I'm still learning too, so I'll probably be running into a lot of the same problems you will, so I'll try to hlp you if I can.

type dd in the console and hit enter ... for your last question.

Anyway, use a better distro, and you wouldn't have these problems. *cough Gentoo/Debian cough*

Fedora Core is a still a very good distribution though. With yum and apt, it rivals Debian.

Any time I try to run Java mozilla crashes. Google has a ton on it, but it doesn't seem to work anything I try. I have yam do the update of j2re and mozilla-j2re. I tried to update it to see if it would fix itself but it finds no updates. I downloaded synaptic but it doesn't make sense yet, time to look at some more reading...

Did you create a symbolic link in the right directory to your Java install? I don't remember which directory its in under you Firefox directory, but it should be on the web site. If not, then I can boot up my Fedora partition and take a look.
