Full-sized billiards table.

75lb punching bag and speedbag (with speed rope and other accessories)

Foosballl table (table football)

DVD/VCR Combo to replace my aging VCR

New Computer, not yet certain of the specs, as I haven't looked too closely at the box (Hewlett-Packard, I may return it for cash and build one instead)

A shirt with a monkey sitting in a chair eating potato chips that reads "Slacker"

Ashirt with the same moneky (minus one arm, he has a bandaged stub) holding a firecracker that reads "I'm a slow learner"

Another shirt that reads "It isn't illegal unless you get caught"

Yet another shirt with the name "Led Zeppelin"

A 5-gallon bucket containing David sunflower seeds

Obviously, the larger gifts aren't mine alone, but I still get to use them.

I got a coat like the bomber crews wore in WW2. It's authentic handmade and whatnot. Real sheepskin. Very expensive. And that's it.

I'm jewish, so I didn't get any presents...

But I'm snowboarding with my family, so what I did get was a quiet day on the mountain.

It was delicious.

Only got three items this year, because of finances, but here's what I got, which I already knew about, because I picked them out myself:

-Star Wars Trilogy DVD-Widescreen (ordered from Amazon.com; they had the best price on it, and the shipping was free!)
-The Ewok Adventures DVD (Caravan Of Courage/Battle For Endor)
-Star Wars: A Year Of Galactic Trivia Page A Day Calendar

I put in the trilogy DVDs and checked out some of the changes, the incredible clarity, and also some of the stuff on the bonus disc. Had to go to my aunt's house for dinner this afternoon, though, so I haven't watched them all the way through yet. I may try to do that tomorrow if I can. I'll watch the Ewok flicks during the week or something. Can't wait until next Christmas- Revenge Of The Sith will be on DVD by then.

~$300-400

I am exalting in the joy of computers right now...

  • MechWarrior 4
  • A new PC
  • A PS2 (My first ever console gaming system!)
  • Dance Dance Revolution Extreme
  • NeverWinter Nights Platinum Edition

And finally...

A laptop! This is something I have desperately wanted for several years and never received. I finally have my own computer that I can use without the rest of my family messing everything up! Plus, with the new desktop computer (which is really for my whole family) I can use our old computer to just tinker. I think I'll try Linux on it, since I've never used Linux before. Heck, I've never even seen it. ;)

Now, if only these new computers of mine didn't need so many configuration changes to make them even close to useable... Windows XP is evil, at least until you disable all of the idiot-protection software.

Clothes that I wanted and needed. This included two pairs of identical Kahkis. They were bought on two completely different shopping trips. I asked for them both times. My subconscious BADLY wanted these I guess...

The Halo Soundtrack (I've been playing tracks from that almost all day. Marty O'Donnell owns.)
Incubus - A Crow Left of the Murder
Matchbox Twenty - More Than You Think You Are
A Halo 2 hat (I FINALLY have a hat that I know I'll wear. I discard most of my other hats for one reason or another after a few months.)
Ghost Recon for Xbox (Now I need a memory card so I can steal my friends profile. He's done all the missions and unlocked everything. No way am I doing it. I just want it for Multiplayer.)
Morrowind Elder Scrolls III for Xbox (A tedious time killer that will hopefully be fun! Yes! At the very least, it LOOKS interesting.)

And stuff that was lended to me for awhile...

Fellowship of the Ring and Two Towers Extended Editions. I've known for awhile that I needed these eventually. Now they are a must have item. Extended Edtion > Theater Version.
America (The Book) (From the library. MEH I say to you.) I had it on hold for well over a month. I've only read the first chapter, and I'm definately buying it next time I'm at a bookstore.

All in all, I'd consider it a good Christmas. Far better than last year, when most of the stuff on my list was way above what anyway was willing to pay for to get me. For awhile this year, I thought one of my packages was an iPod. It had the right weight (would you believe I freaking weighed it? I was bored...). But like I said, as cool as that would have been, it would not have fit into my parents purchasing logic. No matter. I'll buy one eventually. I love those things.

Camouflaged Hunting Gloves

And to top it off, my dad made a really nice potato-gun, for me and him to dink around with! Hahaha, it can shoot well over 100 yards! It's the greatest!
I have to say, I made off like a bandit this year..

I got a beautiful new dark mahogany Washburn acoustic guitar from my parents, since my terrible old one finally bit the dust. As well as the various items required when acquiring a new guitar (strap, picks, strings).

And to wear in the new guitar I suppose, my brother got me the Beatles Complete Scores music book. Wow...is all I have to say about that.

Then from the rest of the extended family, I got alot of things that are plaid, some movies (Napoleon Dynamite, and the South Park movies which I both recognize as genius), some candy, and of course; the Christmas issue of Weekly World News, which for some reason is a tradition for me.

That iRiver is pimp indeed. Congrats on it! Also, what's the Feynman book about? I read a non-science book by him called Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman. Have you read it? Apparently, it's out of the same series.

Alright, Thanks For The Info in advance. Cool to see another book junkie. ;)

Yeah, I've read SYJ too, this one is a sequel, but more biographical. Because I'm supposed to be writing my essay, I'll allow myself to be distracted for a moment to give you an excerpt from the introduction (written by Ralph Leighton, one month after Feynman's death) -
Quote:
Because of the appearance of "Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman!" a few things need to be explainied here.
First, although the central character in this book is the same as before, the "adventures of a curious character" here are different: some are light and some are tragic, but most of the time Mr. Feynman is surely not joking - although it's often hard to tell.
Second, the stories in this book fit together more loosely than those in "Surely You're Joking...," where they were arranged chronologically to give a semblance of order. (That resulted in some readers getting the mistaken idea that SYJ is an autobiography.)

It's a tad embarassing to admit, but I was one of those people, it never occured to me that the title of the book was a clue as to the fictitious nature of some of the stories. "What Do You Care..." was a good read (I started it xmas day evening, finished on Boxing day!), I adore the way Feynman writes. There are letters included and in those and his more public addresses he manages to always pick out the most fascinating things, completely ignoring any smalltalk or useless waffle. There's a whole section on the investigation into the 1986 Challenger disaster, and it all gets a tad technical for my liking during his report - I was more interested in the stories about his dad and his first wife.

I'm going to invest in some of his scientific publications though, since he was a leading name in the areas I'm interested in.
