Good PS2 games
2004-12-25, 10:28 PM #1
I just got a PS2, and I was wondering what are a few good games...

I got the new GTA:SA and I dislike it soo far..

I think I got the money for 2- 3 games..
and I was thinking about FF 10 for one...

so if any one and suggest a game it would be very useful
2004-12-25, 11:23 PM #2
thanks for telling us what kind of games you like...

Rygar
Baludr's Gate: Dark Alliance
ICO
Timesplitters 2
Twisted Metal Black
Burnout *
THPS*

i can't really say anything for the newer games... i haven't played much on my PS2 for a while

Metal Gear anything (Snake eater.) Kingdom Hearts. There's nothing else. Everything else is just a gimmick, a copy of a PC/X-box title, or a good concept with poor exicution. This is comming from a once PS2 fanboy. Now it sits and collects dust, unless I toss a few PS1 games in, or try and beat KH in a set amount of time.

Buy MGS for the PS1, then get MGS2 and MGS3, and you're good to go.
2004-12-25, 11:26 PM #5
Katamari Damacy.

It's cheap too.
2004-12-25, 11:29 PM #6
Any of the Tony Hawk series, I prefer THUG2, myself, gimmicks and all...

Any of the Metal Gear series (though, Twin Snakes on cube is better...)

GTA, I REALLY enjoy, but hey, to each his own....

Both Zone of the Enders games were fun, short, but fun.

Also, Jak and Dakster (and any sequels) Ratchet and Clank (and any sequels) and ANY Dance Dance Revolution game with Max on the title, were quality.

Of course, the opinions expressed in this post are from a dude on an internet forum. Those who invest in the recommendations and are not impressed shouldn't complain.

TimeSplitters (original), and Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec.

How could you dislike GTA:SA if you can do anything you can do in any other game (pretty damn close)? I'd say go for FF10 definetaly, I really enjoyed it. Also MGS like others suggested and...Star Wars: Battlefront. Or Kingdom Hearts.

Play GTA:SA for a while, it'll grow on you. My first impression wasnt fantastic either, but after a few hours it dawned on me how massively impressive and deep that game is.

Get another controller if you dont have one already. If you've got a bunch of friends who like video games think about a multi-tap and an extra controller or two (people can always bring their own). Renting games where 4 or 5 people can play at once is always fun.

Stop speaking.

If you haven't played Deus Ex for the PC, and can't, I suggest picking it up for the PS2. It's a decent port, not great, but a great game, so still very worth it.

The Thing is good for a play through.

Katamari Damacy

MGS3

Wild Arms 3

X-Men: Legends

There's more, but I can't be bothered to think that hard ;) That should last you a while either way.

Ace Combat 4 and 5 if you have the slightest interest in playing a flight sim/arcade. Rachet and Clank is pretty good as well. Definitely pick up the first Devil May Cry.

Burnout 3 is all the love you'll ever need baby.
Think while it's still legal.

GT3 I agree with, but the original TimeSplitters? I couldn't play it for more than 10 minutes. What an eyesore.

Gran Turismo 3.
Final Fantasy X.
SSX Tricky.
GTA: Vice City.
Devil May Cry.
Metal Gear Solid.
Any Tony Hawk.
2004-12-26, 9:37 PM #17
Tony Hawk series
Timsplitters series
Burnout series
Need for Speed: Underground
Metal Gear Solid series
NHL Hitz (2002 only, seriously, they took all the fun out of the later versions)
Spider-Man 2

And I don't even own my own PS2!
2004-12-26, 10:14 PM #18
X-Men Legends
Devil May Cry Series
Ratchet and Clank Series (1 & 2 are $20 and worth every penny)
The ESPN Sports games are all great if you like sports games
NBA Street Vol. 1 & 2
NFL Street
Winning 11 if you like soccer
Pissed Off?

Devil May Cry.
Easily my faveourite PS2 game, it is AWESOME.
The second one is... good, but pales greatly in comparison.
You must get it.

Any of the FIFA games.

FF10 is amazing. One of the few RPGs I actually couldnt stop playing.

The Lord of the Rings games were fun, especially Return of the King.

Castlevania.

Red Faction 1 & 2

Timesplitters 1 & 2

but my favorite game I've ever played on PS2 and continue to play to this day is....

TENCHU: WRATH OF HEAVEN
"Those ****ing amateurs... You left your dog, you idiots!"

NO.

Devil May Cry: Great idea, somewhat fun, but the first 20 minutes are just like the next hour you'll be playing. Only worth a rent.

X-Men Legends: No. Played it for 30 minutes, realized how utterly bland and generic it was, stopped playing.

LotR: This was the most hack-and-slash a game can get. The ONLY reason one would play this game is because they like LotR. The ONLY reason. You won't find any gameplay short of X X X X X X X X O.

Tony Hawks: Get one of the games, any of them. You'll play it when friends come over, and maybe when little kids need entertaining.

The only games mentioned here worth playing:

MGS
Spiderman 2
GTA
FF
Kingdom Hearts
Rachet and Clank
Sly Cooper
Jak and Dexter

Honestly, anything else is usually only rentworthy (Like Zone of the enders), or party worthy. And if you're looking for party games, buy one less PS2 title, and get a gamecube instead. They're cheap enough.

GT3:A-Spec is a great single player racing game. You can find it anywhere for $20 (probably even less).

I'm playing it because it's fun, and it has two player co-op mode. So, no :p

If your into wrestling, try one of the Smackdown series. Great stuff. hmmm.. Devil May Cry is good. Try Legacy of Kain: Defiance. That game had me in awe for a good while. You get to play as Kain and Raziel.

Actually, if you play Legolas you have to hold down R1 quite a bit.

Yeah, only buy ROTK if you are a big movie fan. The co-op is excellent the first time through, definitly worth a rent and an all-nighter.
2004-12-27, 6:05 PM #27
Intelligent Qube (puzzle game, I've been addicted for years and years)
GTA 3 = win
Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2, Metal Gear VR missions
Final Fantasy X was great, if you like the FF games.
Time Splitters is fun

I have a ton of good games, but I consider myself a gaming masochist. I like games that piss you off. Like GTA3, IQ, R-Type games (final was great, 100+ ships to unlock), and stuff that will give you a headache. Also, get some fighting games like soul caliber 2, or capcom vs snk. Ace Combat series is good, too. Ico rocks!

I guess people are allowed to have an opinion, just as long as it's the same as yours.

But did he have to express his opinion in a thread about getting PS2 games? No. He didn't. In fact it was quite pointless for him to.

Goddamn kirby, people can also be very tactless about when they express their opinions.

For the record, I'm a hypocrite, and there's not a goddamn thing you can do about it. Suck it.

Shut up and stop thinking you're better than everyone, because by making these stupid types of posts, you exude that elitist attitude when everyone knows you're just some emo kiddy that likes making his epenis larger on Massassi.

First of all: People are allowed to joke around.

Continue this arguement about it and get banned. I'm through with having you and everyone else come into a thread and tear it apart because you cant be mature and drop certain things.

if you have broadband and the network adapter (or if your PS2 is the newer model) socom 2 is pretty fun... one of the reasons i'd like to eventually get the adapter... so i won't have to go to a friend's house to play it

Good point. Another good one for online play is Midnight Club 2.
