I downloaded the trial version of this game, and I love it. So I'm going to get it.
Anyone else play it? Like it?

The only thing I can't figure out is that it says you have to have a 16MB 3D graphic card. I have nothing but my motherboard's chipset graphics, yet I can run it fine, even in high res. Not that I'm complaining. I just thought it was wierd.

AoM is one of the best RTS's ever made. I own it. I still haven't gotten Titans yet :(
Think while it's still legal.

You can probably get screenshots there. I was too lazy to look. :p

You can get it pretty cheap on ebay, too.

I have it, and I don't think it's really that great of a game, if you want an RTS I'd go with Rise of Nations...

It was amazing when it was released, and it is still sacred to me, but better games have come and gone. I'd definitly give it thumbs up, but it's a bit passé. Have you tried Rise of Nations or Warcraft3? Maybe even Rome: Total War?

good game, played it through in my first year of uni, like the vikings the best, maybe a little weak to start off with but later on they're probably the best "nation" in a one on one situation,

ie critical blow to the enermy in one attack, mop up from then on.

never did get the titans expansion....uuummm....

Yeah the Titans expansion adds a huge imbalance to the multiplayer... wouldn't advise it even though almost everyone plays it.

It's really fun for a little while, but it gets old fast.

I also think there's waaay too much to research/upgrade/build. It gets overwhelming and confusing.

Age of Empires 2 is superior.

AOM has some nice graphics, but it feels too slow to me. The cutscenes are nice and the story's pretty well-done, but something about the gameplay just isn't right. Also, The Titans campaign was far too short.

I was like that on the second level. I wiped out my army by trying to go into the pirate city too soon, and was like "OMG what do I do?"

Then I realized villagers can build stuff and do chores. While I supervise. I love telling people what to do. :D

I concur with Acharjay. As a balance and tactics freak, Age of Empires 2 has given me and several friends enjoyment for the past 4 years. AoM was cool, but the constant releases of patches for balance wore me out. Maybe they stopped after awhile, but by then we were back at AoEII. I believe AoEII + Conquerors had total about 6 patches, mostly for bug fixes, with minimal unit adjustment. But that might just be my own neurosis.

The reason AoE2 didn't have balance issues is because each culture was exactly the same, with the exception of a couple bonuses and units each. Age of Mythology, on the other hand, has three completely unique cultures.

True, and I think in that sort of area, Blizzard seems to do better.
