Giant cookie to anyone who can correctly tell me how it's done.

nifty.

I'm not gonna try to work it out, I always end up feeling cheated, I'd rather stick with the theory that magic is real :)

When you show the original jack, you actually had 2 cards in your hand. The jack was under the three. But when you put them back on the pile, you put the three on the top of the deck (Since it was behind the jack). Then you took that three, and placed it onto the desk, without showing what card it was.

Now you are left with the jack on the top of the deck, and through some shuffling maneuvers you pulled out a duplicate 3 card. Using the same 2 card in hand trick, you switch them again, leaving the three on the deck, and putting the jack in your hand to do the amazing slap on the block and the cards move. You reveal the cards, and the trick is done.

That's how I think it was done.

Nope :)

Although I'll give you one of those mini-cookies you get in gift baskets sometimes.

I might have to make a vid tomorrow showing there are no duplicate cards... One version I did had that, but leafing through the cards slow enough that you could see them at the start and the end of the trick added about 5 mb to the file size.

Also, the trick can be done with any 2 cards in the deck. I decided not to show the random selection because it seemed a little pointless, you'd (understandably) assume I picked them out deliberately. Clearly, the Jack was chosen before the trick started.
