My mother woke me up at 8:30 this morning. She said basically that she had a job interview and a small job to go to, she would be leaving at 9 and I would need to get to work someway else today. Oh, and she knew about all this last night but forgot to tell me.

Now, I have this job so I can save for a car or to move the hell out near something as I currently live 10 miles away from civilization.

Great thing is no one I know is able to give me a ride. Great, so I can either call in sick, tell the truth and get fired, or not go and get fired. Any way it goes down I'm losing money. Yay!

Just call them up and tell the truth. Most people would probably understand. If you've got 2 or 3 hours, you could always walk, too. :p

Havent you got a bike? ... or you could walk? FOOL! I hereby give you some advice..

How to Make Your Bike the Perfect Fit

Before riding too far away from home, make sure you and your bike are comfortable with one another.

Steps:

1. Straddle the bike with your hands on the handlebars and your feet flat on the ground. Don't sit on the seat.

2. Lift the front of the bike with the handlebars. On a road bike, there should be 1 to 2 inches between the bike frame and your crotch; on a mountain bike, 3 to 4 inches.

3. Get a friend to hold you up on your bike.

4. Sit on the seat with your feet on the pedals, as if riding.

5. Pedal backward - so you don't ride away - until one pedal is at the bottom. Your leg on that pedal should be slightly bent, not completely straight.

6. Raise or lower the seat accordingly.

7. Put your hands on the handlebars. You should be able to reach them with your arms bent comfortably.

8. Move the seat forward or backward accordingly.

- If your back or neck hurts from riding no matter how you adjust the seat, ask a bike mechanic about getting a different-size "stem." This is the elbow-shaped piece of metal that attaches the handlebars to the rest of the bike.

- Mountain bikes and road bikes will fit you differently. Because you sit up straighter on a mountain bike, your arms may be extended more than they would be on a road bike.

- Whatever is comfortable is likely correct.

Call in sick. Tell them you woke up with a terrible flu and you threw up all over your cat, if you have a cat. They should feel pretty sorry for your cat at that point. Sympathy always helps you get your way.

Just called in and told the truth. The Sup didn't seem to mind. I guess they'll call in Paul. Riding a bike for long distances is not an option as there are crazy *** drivers out there and tons of road construction, also, it's wet as can be out there. Also, It would have taken me quite a bit longer than 2 or 3 hours as I get winded pretty easily - damned asthma. Well, here's to an unexpected day off. :beer;

That is perhaps the most awesome thing I'll read all day.

The nearest bus stop is 8 miles away.

Even the best public transportation system isn't going to run a regular route ten miles outside of the city.
