Well, Trillian 3 is out, what does everyone think about it? I personally think it's looking more an more like the unstable public IM services we have now. But nontheless, I'm going to try it for a while. I'm just hoping that my old skins are installable on this version..

*Yawn* Had that in Gaim for some time.

Its alright, but they absolutely destroyed IRC, so that was bad. otehrwise, its good.

So how do I tab my convos?

open one convo. Open another convo with the other still open. The second will be tabbed in the first.

got it last week.. and i'm happy with it, except you can't add a certain amount of buddy icons to choose from... breaks it

I'm in love. There are very few things I don't like, and I can live without those.

I've cut mine down to a minimilist GUI, it's all conversation and a sliver of "What I type" text, no buddy icons, no menus or buttons or flashy stuff.

I wish you could conform all message windows to the same size and proportions though, all of mine are all sorts of sizes, and it irritates me..

I also wish you could have all incoming text conform to a user-chosen font and style, BUT still let italics and bold and underline come through.

Other than that, (And the IRC thing..) it's fantastic.

I can't decide yet. The fact that it feels like XP annoys me to no end. Even after I changed the skin to one of my older ones, it still has that feeling. Most of the newly added features I turned off, so the point of updating is practically lost.

Where, exactly, were versions 1 and 2? I never saw or heard of either of them. I was still using version .72 patch E.

I'll let it run the rest of the evening, but I have a feeling it'll be uninstalled and I'll revert back to my older version. It just feels smoother, faster, and less bloted.

Italics, bold, and underline are usually part of the font, if I understand correctly. You couldn't get rid of them without actually altering the font itself.

You could just use a font that doesn't distinguish between italics and the rest. I'm sure they're out there.

There were no free versions of Trillian Pro 1.x and 2.x. You had to pay for them.

So far, I like Trillian 3 (running the free basic version here). I'd say its probably the best release since the 0.6x versions.

He wants to keep Bold, Italics, and Underline... but I still fail to see how that'd be a problem... why would it not allow Bold/Italics/Underline go through if you change the font... shouldn't they still go through?

If it's already an option, then does it just change all the font to the specific font, etc.. and remove ALL formatting?

You can. well you can at least reset them to the default size..which is weird since in the last version you could specify the height and width. Preferences>Message windows> Hit reset under "When a new message is created".

Hmm.. well considering i've had tabbed conversation windows since like 0.7x i'm fairly sure. Just set im's to appear in a specified Container [DhoomCon in my case] and youre good to go.

As for irc, well trillian has /always/ been horrible with irc. I can't imagine how they could break it even more but i don't really care since i use mirc / irssi.

As to minimalistic skins, you really can't get any better than Kimae [shown in that screenshot], in fact after several hours of browsing all the other skins on the site and a couple other sites i realized that 98% of all the others were totally horrid [eg massive bevelled borders, shiney bright xp-ishness, &c]. Which just proves that with even a 2 sigma deviation, kimae is the only skin worth having at all :p

Though considering i'm only on xp for the duration of beating kotor and will soon go back to my beloved Gentoo + E it's all somewhat moot.

I don't know how clear it is in the shot, but that's a lovely tinted transparent console window that drops down at the press of a hotkey, think quake 3 arena.

You'd think that, wouldn't you. But no, I can still type in bold and italics, and other people can see it, but once I hit enter I can't see it anymore. (It shows as normal text)

And JK- Thank you, though I wish you could set the sizes you want, like you used to be able to do. I'm aggrivated that the 'type your text' textbox takes up a fifth of the bloody window.

Thats because you probably don't use AOL, or ICQ. Its just a convience of NOT having 2-3 IM programs up.
