Zelda Questions

Okay, I'm confused. I see the GBA game called A Link to the Past which I already have on my SNES. I also see that it includes "4 swords adventures" which seems like a multiplayer addon or something. Then I see the same game "4 swords adventures" for sale for full retail price on the gamecube. Is there any difference between these games? Is it a whole new Zelda game you can play alone or is it just a collection of mini-games you play multiplayer only?

I was just in Software ETC. in the mall here and I played a new Zelda game on the GBA as well. It looked very interesting. It's called the Minish Cap and the girl working there (wtf is up with that anyway?) said it would be available on Jan. 20th.

So... just looking for some clarification.

One final question: is the only way to get Zelda Wind Fish (originally released for GameBoy) still on the original GameBoy and the "color" edition they came out with later? Or does it appear elsewhere on some other cartridge?

Thanks!

They re-released A Link to the Past on GBA, which included a multiplayer mode called The Four Swords. Four Swords Adventure for the Cube basically took the concept and expanded it into a full-scale game. And yes, you can play the GC game alone, controlling the Links individually or with some preset formations.

For clarification, however, if you wish to play multiplayer on the GC Four Swords, each player must have a GBA/GBA SP (or hopefully a DS) and a GBA/GC link cable. Another one of Nintendo's evil marketing schemes :(

Eh, say what you want, but I don't think it would've worked as well without the GBA's. It would make going off-screen nearly impossible.

I don't think it shouldn't have had the ability to be played with the GBAs, I just think it should have been that -- an OPTION. Nintendo, while very good IMO with videogames as a whole and such, is crap when it comes to offering options for players in their first/second party games. Ex. LAN option in MarioKart: DD. It's nice that they made it for quick gaming by automatically choosing characters and karts, but they SHOULD have made it a default option, with advanced options to be able to choose karts and the like. This isn't always the case, mind you, but it seems to happen enough to notice.

Speaking as someone who has played through all of Four Swords Adventures with 4 players all of whom used GBAs, I can definitely tell you that Four Swords would not in any way, shape or form have worked without them.

"Zelda Wind Fish", I'm pretty sure that is "Link's Awakening DX".

Ah, so Wind Fish is Link's Awakening DX?

Thanks Cloud. Wish someone mentioned something sooner!

The only way (aside from eBay) to still get a copy of Link's Awakening DX (a version of the game for the Gameboy color, with some additions, like a new dungeon with color puzzles and added scenes involving a man that takes pictures of you across your journey) is by downloading the game some place and using VisualBoyAdvance

Seeing as Link's Awakening is no longer being sold (and Nintendo no longer makes a profit of it) just make a google search with the following terms and 'I'm feeling lucky':

Legend of Zelda, The - Link's Awakening DX emuparadise

EDIT: btw, if this is considered piracy (even though nobody gives a rat's ***) feel free to remove this part even though it's basically just a guide on using google.

In the version that was released, yes. The main adventure could have been designed without the dependancy though, or they could have at least let players use the Gamecube controllers for freakin' SHADOW BATTLE. Hell, they could have given a LAN option -- I know more friends with Gamecubes and their own TVs than just ONE person with a GBA

i think what tends to make more people WTF is why they released Zelda 2 on GBA... Zelda1 most people can generally understand... but zelda 2 is the worst of the series (the cdi zelda games are not part of the series)

of course i'm still going to eventually buy both of the classic NES series zelda games because i'm a hopeless zelda fanboy

It's not bad, it's just different. I'd have to say Wind Waker was the worst of the series.

I have the original Link's Awakening for Gameboy, but it's not the color version. I just bought it off Ebay, though, hopefully the seller won't screw my over. I seriously have a 50% success rate at Ebay, half the time I get screwed. Yes, I buy from sellers with a 100% positive rating, but it still makes no difference. *sigh*

Honestly, I wouldn't bother buying the color version if you have the original. The only difference (besides the fact it's in color) is a 'bonus' dungeon and a mini-quest involving photos, which is really pretty annoying. It basically amounts to a little guy poppig up whenever he sees a "photo-op", and taking a picture. I think it had something to do with the Gameboy camera/printer, but I'm not sure.

if you complete the color dungeoun you can choose from 2 different suites. red and blue. red suit gives you 2x power with your sword, and blue gives you 2x defense

I just want to see it in color, I hate puke yellow and even the black & white of the new GBA.

How do you get to the color dungeon?
2005-01-06, 7:45 AM #28
the color dungeon is in the graveyard. i think you have to go to the screen that has like 5 graves and move each one a certain way to gain access to the color dungeon
