So..I was thinking about working for the city police department for several years to build experience for a federal job..I was expecting $32-34k/yr as an officer, and maybe $50k-ish if I were to reach Lt eventually.

I just talked with my criminal justice professor here (retired as a Captain after 33 years with GPD) -- he said Sergeants make ~$40k+..Lieutenants can make $60-80k, and Captains even higher. That's twice what I was expecting.. :eek:

I've often thought about being a policeman for career. I heard it's a lot of paperwork though.

Watching the show Cops makes me think all the criminals in America are either black or rednecks.

Well I'm heading down either of two branches, one where I might make 100k a year and the other where I might earn 500 to 1000$ a week, and if I'm really lucky, possibly up to ten times that. HA! :p

Stick with the 100k/yr if you can..lol...$500/week is only 26k/yr.
