At some point in your day, please take time to remember the people that were slaughtered on this day 5 years ago and have a moment of silence for them.

Old aunts used to come up to me at weddings, poking me in the ribs and cackling, telling me, "You're next." They stopped after I started doing the same thing to them at funerals.

Don't forget, either, the two boys that carried out the shooting and took their lives that day.
I think it is a testiment to the emotional pain and damage that bullying causes, of which I'm sure more than a few of you here are familiar with.

Nice job taking a **** on his post.

Anyways, yeah going with what mort-hog was saying, this is another example where we can learn from history, and be sure it doesn't get repeated.

He's right, you know. We can't blame that kill ratio on lag. Somewhere down the line, we have to start thinking about how we're killing, not just why.

Also, to everybody else, happy 420.

Five years ago, two students went on a shooting rampage in their school in Columbine, Colorado, USA. Many students and teachers were killed, and the two boys committed suicide when cornered by the police. It's said that the shooting was an act of revenge from the bullying the two boys had to endure.

Happy Blameshifting day.

I have a VERY good idea of what might have been going through their minds... *sigh* I have a poem about it, but I've already posted it once on massassi. Twice would be overkill, eh?

I read at MSN that those kids that started the shooting weren't specifically targeting jocks, minorities, etc. They were merely psychopaths.

The two had compiled a list of people they wanted to kill; only one of those people on the list was killed, and even then, studies showed that they didn't focus on that one person in particular.

*spends a moment in remeberance. Sincerely*

Oh, and about the killers, i have no sympathy, seriously. i got picked on like hell in grade school, and you know what? i never when around killing people. And penny arcade makes my statment pretty well. In this Tycho's referring to an incident a while ago when some kids tryied to hyjack a car and go on a random killing spree, but if fits this situation jsut as well:

Why is that significant? This event is not related to the 420 you are thinking of at all. They did it on this day because it is Hitler's birthday.
