What percentage of your emails are spam?
2005-01-14, 10:19 AM #1
For those of you with gmail, this should be easy (if you haven't deleted anything). Just take a look at your total emails, the number of those in the spam folder, and tell us what percentage of your emails are spam. For those of you who don't know for sure due to deletions and stuff, just estimate. As for me:

email: gmail
percentage spam: 5%

100% spam, literally. I have no friends, so I subscribe myself to random mailers and the like, just for the attention.

An AOL account I had awhile back is drowning with Spam. The stupid AOL Spam filter is about as effective as a condom sent through a paper shredder.

I don't get email. Ergo, my spam is uberhigh.

I get on average somewhere between 2-5 messages a day. Some are college "junk", a few from friends; most of the rest, the real spam, is about getting cheap software. So about 20% average.
Well, I guess that's what it used to be; I'm not getting too many college mails anymore.
May the mass times acceleration be with you.

Going into that much detail may warrant you wanting to take a look at those sex spam messages. ;) :p

I get quite a bit, but very little <5% actually gets to my inbox. I have good filters and a wonderful bulkmail folder.

Voted 91-100%, because I have a Massassi.net email address. You would not believe how much spam those addresses get. About 1 new spam email every 5 minutes or so.

Nearly all of mine is spam, but that's only for two reasons:

1. I consider the Massassi forum mailer to be spam.
2. I am too lazy to turn the Massassi forum mailer off.

So every week or so I routinely delete about 500 emails.

Try checking the e-mail and clicking the "Mark as Spam" button. Then, all mail coming from that server in the future will end up in a folder called "Spam." What a coincidence.

I know, I know... AOL's software is pretty hard to use.

I get very little spam. Unfortunately, since I'm at college I haven't been able to keep my emails a closely guarded secret any more.
