If you buy RAM with those (gimmick) heat spreaders, make sure they aren't completely bogus like some (Kingston) brands sometimes are. Make sure the heatsinks come in contact with all the RAM chips and aren't attached with crappy, thick thermal pads. Though I'll bet you're going to have a hard time finding that.

Check www.slickdeals.net before you buy anything. They often have amazing deals on RAM.

I bought the same exact ram from futurepowerpc.com for only 219. Look for this item: Kingston 1GB DDR400 (PC3200 / CL3A) - (Kit of 2x512MB)

Overclocking? Mushkin PC3500

Probably over your budget though...I don't know the USD:CAD exchange rate. However, this is the ram I see most people overclocking with over at futuremark.com.

You might also check Provantage. I've never bought RAM from them, but they've given me good deals on other things I bought, plus their shipping is the cheapest I could find.

Corsair XMS with copper heat spreaders is pretty good.

That memory Jon posted is what I have, but I paid about... $200-$220 at most for it from Newegg. Can't find that specific memory anymore on the site though.

Only thing is the heat spreaders are aluminum, and really I should've gone for copper ones, but these were a bit cheaper at the time than the ones with copper. They're stable though, so no real complaint.
