100 gram weight
2004-04-21, 5:31 AM #1
I need to find something that weighs exactly 100.0 grams. Does anyone know any household items that would fit the job? I know 20 U.S Nickels would work, but the Canadian nickels don't work.

And if not, where can I buy one of those black 100 gram weights?

Not sure how truely accurate they are, but some foods come in 100 gram packets.

why exactly do you need to measure 100g precisely? (just buy a balance)

Just get a digi, you goddamn druggie [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

100ml of pure water will do it.

And how are you going to get the water to the balance?

Most (non-digital) balances have knobs that you can adjust to ignore the weight of a beaker or other container. Or you could just measure the weight of the container ahead of time, and then factor that in when you are measuring the container with the water.

Weigh beaker. Put water in said beaker. Add weight of beaker to 100. Attempt to achieve said number.

if he needs 100g he's probably calibrating a scale, which means he can't weigh anything. If we're dealing with canadian currency, then I can't help ya. But if you are calibrating a scale, most come with a 50g or 100g weight. Try taking it to a place that sells them and ask if you can borrow one. I always get my scales from smoke shops, so they are likely to have one.

If we knew the purposes, this might be alot easier.

Well, errr...

His tag does make him out to be apparently a fan of Hunter S. Thompson's.

Water is a good way of measuring weight as others have stated. Just work your way from 1kg=1l.
If it breaks, you get to keep both pieces.

Yes I am recalibrating a scale...I'll try and find a store that has one i can use I guess.

I think a hardware store would likely have small weights… or perhaps someplace where you could find fishing tackle.
