He is still alive, as near as I can tell. Google news doesnt say anything dire, other than him being "ordered to loose weight", which is a kinda no-brainer.

Error 304 means "Not modified". Its sent by a server when a requested document matches a cached version the client possesses.

In this case, its probably just a mis-configured server.
