I personally think it's 'meh'.
Think while it's still legal.

and now we know what the first CG laced scene will be.

How is it any worse than the title crawls for the original trilogy movies?
2005-01-27, 10:25 AM #4
The one for Episode III is horrible.

EVIL IS EVERYWHERE

TEH GASP

Hopefully things get better after that...

Edit:
Bleh, I think I like it more now.

As well as how good it will look. As it always does.

(on an unrelated note)

I dunno why, but people tend to love to complain about Star Wars prequels. It's a movie. If you do nothing but search for faults in a movie, that has obviously changed the direction of filmmaking (yes, even the prequels have), then you seriously need to get out more. Here's a simple solution for you that even a retarded mouse could figure out... If you don't like it, If you can't do nothing but gripe and complain that it's not ALLL YOU WANTED IT TO BE (i.e just like the originals), DONT GO SEE IT.

I thought the prequels were as good/bad as the original trilogy :p

I don't like the exclamation mark but the rest reads ok, at least for me.

I'm fine with it, reminds me of an old war news reel; which I imagine is what Lucas was aiming for.

I think the first paragraph is stupid, but the rest is fine with me.

War!
I bet you think that's funny, don't you.

The heroes on boths sides part is not so good.

Yeah, it sounds more like a video game to me when they mention that.

I like it except for the first paragraph. I don't mind the heroes on both sides part - it opens the way to other characters - but the single war is stupid IMHO.

What I like is how in every second crawl there is a word SPELLED OUT IN CAPITALS.

And you should perhaps use spoiler-tags (and not an image), in case someone just wants to read the opinions stated here.

 Why? The topic header kind of already tells you what's in the topic. Besides, the crawl is pretty vague and you shouldn't consider yourself spoiled for knowing the first minute of the movie.

That opening crawl... well... sucks.

Is there really much to explain though that we don't know? Episode III is basically just tying up the loose ends created by the PT in order to mesh with the OT.

That's little reason for the opening crawl to be as bad as it is.

The only thing that bugs me about the crawl is using the word "stunning."

How is it bad? It's setting up the opening scene like all of the crawls from every movie have done.

It's too late at night for me to really think clearly about it... but the whole thing just feels... wrong. It's like it reads more like the back cover of a cheap Sci-Fi novel than an intro crawl that's supposed to setup the opening of a movie. The style seems off to me.

I don't know right now. I just dislike it.

dont take it personally, guys... phoenix hates everything, remember? :)

I think it's interesting that the text crawl matches up with the leaked script. Of course that's a bad thing, since the leaked script read like it was written by a 4 year old or possibly Joseph Smith.

Edit: WAR!
2005-01-28, 2:04 AM #32
I didn't like it. The movies should have better crawls than the Jedi Knight series games, but this movie won't have.

Yes. I do. I hate everything. I hate life. I'm a cynical, depressed, "glass is half empty" kinda guy. And now I'm going to go shoot myself in the face and end this torture known as "life".

Er, Star Wars has always had lame opening crawls and dialogue (I hate sand...), but the real meaning of SW has been the epic battles and awesome saber fights. In my opinion...
