I'd be playing gta3 and all of a sudden, the game freezes and I have to reboot to get it fixed. Then, it happens again, seemingly at random. Any idea why?

GTA3 is an awesome game, btw. I can do all the things I always wanted to do in real life. I like to jump the cars off hills and do crazy stunts.

Oh yeah, I also like killing people by hitting them. However, this can increase your wanted level really fast, and at this point, I primarily just want to drive around and explore.


the cars are good b/c virtually any vehicle can be stolen, and the cars are amazingly realistic in their handling and speed capabilities. I can take corners at full speed, (often smashing into buildings when I do this), and I can actually hear the tread being stripped off of the tires.

However, it's annoying that such a badass character like tommy (which is who you play) can't swim and dies if oyu so much as get your feet wet. .

Do you have ANY mods installed? Any improper installation of cars/mods will cause freezes in your game.

Also, for help from those who know, I'd visit gtaforums.com -- they are nowhere NEAR as friendly as Massassians, but they may be able to help where we can't.

PC version was fine for me - even playing such jolly tunes as Ernie the Fastest Milkman in the West didn't phase it!

Do you have cheats on? Rockstar has said time and time again that cheats make the game unstable.

If I had to make an educated guess, I'd say do the following (if you aren't playing w/any mods or downloaded cars):

1) Reinstall, but keep your savegames.

2) Try a savegame from the net. Yours may have become curropted.

3) Again, if you've installed ANY mod, it can cause problems if it was installed wrong. I don't know if it's a certain car that's giving you problems, but that might help to know.

No, I think it outright sucks.
I just play it every now and then when I'm really bored because it is fun to drive cars around and cause chaos and stuff. Driving through the subway is fun, too.

I just picked up Vice City (there is something about a 1980s beach city that is just awesome, btw.) and it still has that hanging problem. I think it may be my piece of s*** excuse for a video card. I'm thinking of picking up a radeon 9600 as soon as I can afford it.

(if the world works like it does in VC, I'd steal one, get arrested, and then later walk out of the police station with less money and no weapons... )

I have the PS2 version of "vice city" And sometimes it freezes. But one thing in vice city

What I like doing is flying the tank. With "Beter driving skills, and dodo flying cars, and the cars float on water cheat on (Trust me you will crash) cheats on. Just aim the tanks barral behind you. start shooting and driving. Then you will get airborne. keep shooting though, or you will plumbit into the ground. Seroisly you will go higher into the sky. hell I got higher than the blimp.

I had the same problem with GTA3. I could drive around and stuff as long as I wanted, but as soon as I shot any kind of gun, the game would freeze. Also, driving through glass and thus breaking it was about a 50% chance of freezing. *Shrug*

I'm having trouble beating the VC mission "Riot" where you have to take out this one construction company. I start a riot, but the guards keep shooting me to death before I can blow anything up..

A walkthrough on how to do this mission successfully would be appreciated.

A gripe i have with VC is that there's cops everywhere so its hard to steal cars w/o getting caught, so I end up walking a lot of the time. In GTA3, you could steal practically any car with zero reprocussions.

I'm also missing that money cheat in VC.
