so they're going after release groups like fairlight. They took down razor1911 a few moths ago, but the loss of a major group hasn't really hurt the warez scene as far as I've heard. It's not like that will permanently make a difference-- new groups will form and go on as before and the whole warez scene will be driven further underground but will still remain active. I believe this b/c If there was a real way to stop warez, it would have happened a long time ago.

Diddn't farlight close a few months back anyway?

I diddn't know they took down razor1911.. they still seem to be releasing stuff... Not that I would know of such things [http://forums.massassi.net/html/redface.gif] I can't see them stopping warez, it's bigger than ever at the moment.. and what with more and more people using programs like bittorrent and edonkey it's going to become harder and harder to track these people down.

Even if they close sites and manage to stop p2p programs, there are still hundreds of active pulbic and private FTPs.

Just wait for Gmail and people will be attaching a file. Saving the email and letting people have access to the account. There really is no way to stop warez.

CLASS is strong, and theres still Deviance and MYTH.

..Its funny how they keep talking about "syndicates" and "piracy", instead of "breech of copyright". They make it sound like theres a rampaging horde of pilliging pirates pludering software company's profits, but thats simply not the case. Most of these guys are 14-year-olds sitting in their parent's basements widdling the time away by trading games with a few friends. A few thousand friends... Last I heard, they busted Razor for distributing and selling copies on physical media. It's a fair bet that a few of the other groups might not be above such practices.

Yarr, they be making us walk the plank.

As long as they stay away from my anime, I'm AOK. Personally I like having the game boxes...

Well, anime and porn.

Speaking of porn, isn't it the most pirated item? Why aren't they doing anything? Never heard a peep outta them.

I didn't realize that the FBI could legally perform searches in other countries. Unless of course those countries gave permission, in which case I've said nothing and you can all ignore me.

It is probably the most common item traded on p2p programs, but there isnt anything illegal about that unless it is kiddy porn or somthinglike that.

It's as illegal as trading pirated software, music, or non-adult movies; however, the pornography industry has yet to really press charges against anyone.

The porn industry knows better than to try and complain... There's more than enough people that actually pay for it, as well as if they made a big uproar about people sharing it, they know the majority would be people under 18 p2ping this stuff, the final action would be to ban porn, and we all know THAT would never happen.

I know someone who is HEAVILY involved in the warez scene (there is nothing that you can do to make me sell him out, so dont even try), and he never trusts p2p stuff. He only touches stuff that comes from reputable groups b/c according to him, p2p stuff usually has viruses/spyware or is a bogus release. Stuff from relerase groups is always good b/c they have a reputation to maintain.

You mean... I have to... NO! DON'T MAKE ME!!!

I agree with Casperhead!?

While its perfectly alright for bands to make money off of tours and cd sales, I don't think it should be sold as a corporate comodity.

I totally agree with canada's decision that downloading a song is no different than going to the library and copying pages out of a book.

"copyright" was originally meant to keep your competitiors from claiming your work as their own. (the DCMA may have changed that) Just because you download a song, it's not like you are claiming ownership of it, you're merely listening to it. With that said, how could it be copyright infringement?

It's not about protecting so-called intellectual property, it's about corporate greed.

If they want to encourage greedy corporations to sue little kids in their country, that's their own problem.. but they have no buisness doing the same in other countries. If these countries feel that they need to do something, then let them do it, not the FBI.
