have you listened to the sound of the ipod piezo in the second link? (scroll to the bottom for the 2 .ogg sound clips)

I don't understand exactly what they did, but it sounds pretty cool.

I think it's possible to do so without voiding the warranty, you can always flash it back to the apple firmware right?

If you lose the warranty, then you might as well skip this mod... iPod without warranty = suicide.

Notice that they say that the 4G iPods are NOT booting fully yet, unlike what /. says.

However, very cool. Dunno how useful it could be though, besides getting the iPod to play other audio formats.

Sounds cool, but I wouldnt recommend doing it. You'll void your warranty as well as not recieve ANY technical support whatsoever from Apple when and if you call.
