In the case of caR. v. Telephone wires we find in favour of the Telephone wires, and sentence the car to be hung.

it wasn't an actual telephone wire that it ran up on, it was a support wire to help hold up the pole, maybe known more as an anchor wire

The wires are quite thick, woven strands of copper. Copper is pretty strong stuff. The wires wouldn't ever have snapped, but I'm suprised they didn't pull the staples out of the poles that held them in place or whatever.
