Pistol vs. katana
Machine gun vs. katana
The music is quite dramatic kind of in an Iron Chef kind of way.

If videogames have taught me anything, it's that you can always block automatic-weapon fire with a katana

Speaking one asian language, with another asian language in subtitles :(
Edit: After watching them both, that was totally sweet. The first one moreso.

YES. That would be an odd way to spend an afternoon...

Both the audio and the subtitles were japanese. It's like captioning.

And that was awesome.

My roomate says some of the subtitles were in Korean apparently. Though most was Japanese. He translated the speech for me. 1st movie=Katana wins. 2nd movie=machine gun wins!
Life is beautiful.

Oh, I didn't watch the second one .. the second one has korean subtitles *over* the japanese captions.

Yeah. I don't know those languages at all, but still in the very end of both movies, I could "understand" that part.

Totally cool videos! The pistol bullet didn't leave much of a dent in the blade. That was quite amazing.

With M2 it looks like the third shot might have already broken the blade if the exact location of the hit had happened to be the same every time. Now you can clearly see the dispersal that gave the blade better chances. I wonder how many shots the sword could have taken if they had raised the collision site by 1cm after every shot, and not tried to hit the same location.

For those having trouble understanding the second vid:

They go through each bullet hitting the sword. The sword takes 6 bullets, then falls apart on the 7th.

Holy crap. That one pistol bullet split in two.

"Oh."

Both movies were awesome. The second movie shows us why we leave machine gun blocking for games.
No sig.

The Last Samurai should have been more like that

Just about anything looks really cool in super-slow-motion, and that was definitely no exception.

Of course you would still need inhuman reflexes to block pistol bullets. Otherwise...well watch that Indiana Jones movie.
