Dirk Pitt to the Silver Screen

Anyone has ever read any of the Dirk Pitt novles by Clive Cussler (Deep Six, Atlantis Found, Iceberg, etc.) has wondered when they were going to make the books into movies. Well, it is finally coming true. I just noticed the trailer for Sahara on the apple/trailers website. The books are more awesome action than deep story, and the movie looks to be about the same. It may not be a "great" movie, but this one looks to be fun to watch.

They've made movies out of his books before (ie. Raise the Titanic).

I came into this thread to post this. But yeah, I'm excited about Sahara. I hear it deviates from the book a bit, but it looks good anyways. I've read parts of Raise the Titanic, but I really should sit down and read Sahara before the movie comes out.

Haha, these books have to be the worst I've ever seen. I am so taking my 'girlfriend' (read: not quite a girlfriend) to see it when it comes out; Could use a good laugh. :D

Like, in Sahara, one of the characters shoots down a helicopter (I think) with dual wielded M16s... you can't do that in real life. I suppose it may be interesting to read the action, but everything, IMO, sucks terribly. Cliche stories, unbelievable action (in the kind of way that you can't believe is possible, not the kind you can't believe is that cool), and lame puns.

My $0.02.
DO NOT WANT.

James Bond has practically the same stuff. Do you like Bond films?
