Sky captian and the world of tommorow was recently released in theaters here. It has just come out on DVD in the states.

Watch out... This might turn out like the time someone told me there was no stereotype about Canada being underdeveloped...

Canada certainly isn't underdeveloped. First of all, they're years ahead of the rest of the world in igloo technology.

I know what you mean. Shaun of the Dead was released months after everyone else too. On the plus side, we get Episode 3 before everyone else, only if it is by a few hours.

wow. I am truly amazed you are just noticing this. It's the same with everywhere. The US makes something, then reserves the right to let anyone else have it for a while, it does kinda make sense. It's only with huge films like star wars and LotR (you can also include Harry Potter, since the rest of the world jumped on that bandwagon) that the release date is the same worldwide.

Most movies we get before the UK and Europe do, but there are exceptions. Quite a few movies are released in the US to coincide with events such as school holidays, public holidays, or even seasons. As these vary in different countries and hemispheres, movies get released at different times in different countries.

I always thought films were released at different times around the world so the stars could do interviews/premieres at different locations as the films were released.

I loved Sky Captain. It was riddled with cheesy comic book material, which was exactly what I was expecting. It was predictable and fun.

I liked the start with the flying through the streets and the nice cheesy giant robots, but the longer that film went, the stupider and lamer it got.

We only get a big name star out here when a film flops in America and the studio is desperately trying to extract a profit from the world market. If a film does well in the US the stars will never visit.
